I'm honestly shocked at all of the people on here that seem to be excited to buy these movies on release day at full price. Especially after all the reviews and reports stating that streaming versions are pretty lackluster and the HDR doesn't do much.

I mean, we'll see. If they look great then I'll prolly buy a few of them relatively early. But pre-orders? ha

I'm sorry for being negative BUT WHY did they style the final movie cover differently than ALL the other TEN individual movies? WHO is the dunce who made this decision?

This is pretty common practice unfortunately - at least for Disney. It seems that reissue campaigns for a franchise with an upcoming new installment tend to have consistent (and sometimes lazily shopped) themed covers, while the newest film is given its own, separate home release budget and campaign. Probably they're two separate projects executed at different times (even if the releases coincide) and no one pays attention to consistency or cares. It's mildly infuriating, and another reason I like the box set, or box sets in general, or whatever bit of design consistency I can grasp.

I got a similar email, but the p/u date at my store is listed as 4/1, which is weird. Why preorder it if I have to wait an extra day? Might as well cancel the preorder and just go to the store on 3/31 and buy it off the shelf like everyone else.

I hear you. Fans want the Moon but live on Earth. Nothing is ever enough. If there were no bonus features at all on these discs, but I could own them in 4K...kinda down with that. Did that with laserdiscs. Bonus features are...you know....bonus features. Extra. Yes, they make a set better. But a set isn't wrecked without a pile of new stuff. Movie first. Keep your focus on what counts.

Interesting, didn't realize that's their new policy. But it's just to verify that your CC is valid, it shouldn't actually be processed until the item ships.

I really like that box set so here's what we're gonna do...
1. Buy the box set
2. Throw away (sell, actually) the sequels and all their crap
3. Fill the newly empty slots with the Despecialized OT blurays
4. Figure out some way of covering up whatever ST artwork there may be
5. Sell off my old editions of the previously-Complete Saga
6. Sit back and enjoy my nice neat COMPLETE Saga

Just got the email that Best Buy changed the release date of the 9 4k movie set. It releases on 3/31.

Best Buy has put its listings up for the standalone releases, no steelbooks at the moment.

Anybody have a price point they are willing to buy this set or the individual releases at?

I'm only buying Episodes I-VI and Rogue One. I will wait until each individual release gets down to $20. Can't imagine spending $30 for a movie I have purchased 3 times already (VHS, DVD, & Blu-ray).

The 4K versions of TLJ and Solo still have unique covers.

I'm sure TLJ, TROS, and Solo will eventually be repackaged to match the others. Personally, I don't care for the uniform cover designs for these or the Marvel films.

Or it is Disney's subtle way of telling fans that you shouldn't watch those movies when you watch the saga.

I’m buying the Best Buy exclusive 4K set, so it looks like my price point is $250. I hope it comes down some, but I doubt it. However, I will be selling the digital code so that should help recoup some of the cost.

I've purchased them so many times individually and as sets—VHS, LaserDisc, DVD, Blu-ray, UHD. Sigh.

I understand wishing the packaging were a bit different or not being moved to buy it, but I don't understand the outrage over it being released as is. There's nothing egregious about it or the way it's priced relative to other media, and it looks pretty good. It's just not for everyone. You can bet it'll be released in a million and one formats and packages from here to eternity.
