Normally I’m anti-piracy, but when studios just WON’T release something, then I have to turn to it. If I had the time, the tools, and the talent, I would make my own discs, artwork, etc. of the Despecialized editions, but I don’t. I was more than happy to pay someone else for their time and resources for that, and now I have a nice professional-looking original Original Trilogy on my shelf.

George Lucas has had no problem with the fan restorations all these years. He could have easily DMCAd them like Nintendo with all those fan projects. Team Negative 1 and Harmy don't make any money off distribution.

I too refuse to give Disney or Lucasfilm my money for the Special Editions.

But... The many improved and added visual effects (for the most part) do enhance the movies IMO.
I much prefer the theatricals, but I was actually okay with ROTJ until the stupid "NOOOOOOOO" was added. I mean, I don't love Jedi Rocks, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. I don't have any real issues with ESB, and the expansion of Cloud City is actually really cool.

Han shooting first in ANH is a total dealbreaker, otherwise I'd be fine with the adjustments of that film as well (obv I want to live in a world where Disney makes the originals available, though).

I'm getting this set because I want all the 4Ks and I really love the prequel trilogy. I also want all those prequel supplements housed in one place.

Got to love how hostile some people get when they justify breaking the law.

Not to mention this is a discuss for the 4K releases... not the illegal Ebay old school versions.

PS - I actually like Vader saying NOOOOO at the end of Jedi. It ties in the trilogys nicely. And I say that as somebody who grew up on Jedi on VHS back in the day. The movie is near and dear to my heart... and I love the changes.

The "It is okay to break the law when I don't get my own way" argument. It is laughable and childish.

The "Noooo!" is what finally killed the Special Editions for me. Sure, Han Shooting second or simultaneously, or whatever, was the first truly egregious part of it, but the "Noooo!" totally changes the most pivotal scene of the entire trilogy. It's so ham handed and out of place, I can't even watch it.

I could get over Han. I could look away from Jabba. I could roll my eyes, but live with "Jedi Rocks". I even liked having Ian as the Emperor and a few of the effects shots...but, "Noooo!" was the deal breaker for me.

I would love to know what was going through Lucas mind at that point. It's just so bad. There's simply no way to defend it. I think he'd probably say "It's poetry. It rhymes." But, it's just horrible.

Well, to play devils advocate, I'm really just paying for blu-ray cases, artwork, and physical discs. I actually have the theatrical form on multiple formats on my shelf, from VHS to DVD. I have the special editions on blu-ray. My order on ebay also comes with a piece of artwork as well.

So, good luck trying to hold the moral high ground to say that I've done something truly egregious here.

I just added the regular blu-ray box set to my Amazon UK preorder for The Rise of Skywalker in 3D. I'm almost assuredly going to cancel my Best Buy preorder for the 4K set, unless they announce some kind of major exclusive with it.

LMAO, I still don't understand why it bothers you so much that people want to watch the original cuts. Nobody is saying you can't prefer the Special Editions, enjoy them and let us enjoy the originals.

Still illegal if you own prior versions.

People have to justify their incorrect actions. It is how the human brain works.

You should take your illegal discussions elsewhere. This is for 4K legal purchase talk... not your illegal "justified" purchases.

The "Nooo" part is what did me in too. That is my favorite scene in the OT and that addition absolutely destroyed that scene.

Look at the moral majority here. Bwahahahaha. You're funny. Good luck. I simply don't care what you think about me. You can pound sand all day long and start again tomorrow.

I'll let you know if, and when, I get prosecuted. You'll be waiting a long time.

Buying stuff illegally....

I do have a huge problem with the "If you won't make it available I will steal it" entitlement that goes on in these communities.

That is the typical next reaction... which is to claim you don't care. But you are making a response back... so that claim is false. If you didn't care you wouldn't have made a comment.

You are being really trollish right now. You are acting like what we do personally effects your bottom line or something. I swear you must work for Disney or are just a Lucas bootlicker.

Uh. No.

Then you haven't been paying close enough attention. They're always included.
