Just how many more times in my life am I going to binge through all of the Gamera films back-to-back?

But this release will probably be the be-all end-all edition, sans MST3K versions.
Actually, considering how Shout Factory usually includes the MST3K version as a bonus feature when they release one of those films, maybe they should make a deal with Arrow to include them since the DVD set is OOP and Shout is probably never going to get the rights back. They did it for Film Detective's release of Eegah.
LOL well i bought these on VHS then the Neptune releases for the first couple of films again on VHS. then the crap quality DVD releases. then the somewhat better DVDs of Return Of The Giant Monsters (Gamera vs Gaos) and Destroy All Planets (Gamera vs Guiron) as well as the Elvira version of Gamera Super Monster. Tehn the Shout releases on DVD. of course had to get the Mill Creek blu-ray releases as well. so is say the same thing now do i really need the Arrow release? of course i'll break down and get it eventually
just like i always do. tough to be a fan for sure. already been through 3 releases of the 90s titles to on VHS, DVD and Blu.

they know we will which is why they keep releasing the same titles over and over but catch us on the "hey it's better quality" of look a shiny new special feature

Interesting that this is already up for pre-order. I can't think of an Arrow release that has had a release date before their announcements?

I don't know if they're planning to announce it tomorrow, but it's quite the leak. It's actually fun, because the same thing happened with Criterion's Godzilla set, but with Target instead.

Listing says 12 films across 8 discs (13 including the American cut of the first film) which should be a significant improvement over the Mill Creek set that crammed 11 films onto 4 discs.

Yeah, maybe they will announce it soon. They haven't even announced their May or June titles yet, so normally we probably wouldn't have even gotten their July announcements until April. Either way, the sooner the better. At least we have a date for these and know it's coming.

Pretty cool they're including the Dark Horse comics. I recall them being incredibly odd at times.

Decent price too. Cheaper than the Criterion Godzilla set and will probably be close to the B&N price of that set by release day.

Yeah, can I just get a set of movies that fit into a multi-disc case and not have some sort of art piece or coffee table book that also have discs jammed into them? I'm fine with the extras but they don't have to fit in the same storage unit as the discs.

Hope to see the packaging soon. I'm curious to how many films will be on each disc, if any discs will be only extras, etc.

It's cheaper than the Criterion Godzilla set despite being the same number of discs, just a few films less, and having two books included in what is sure to be stellar packaging. Win.

Amazing what can be accomplished when you don't have to deal with Toho.

Honestly, I wish this was released first just to show Toho how it's done properly.

If they saw how good this set looks, maybe MAYBE Toho would have untighten their sphincter a little and would have allowed Criterion to do what Criterion does, instead of blindfolding them and tying one arm behind their back.

I'm not thrilled with the large-format package, but at least this time around it makes up for it by being absolutely stacked in terms of content.

Honestly, all things considered, I don't mind the large format that much. It's a little annoying, but this time around the set makes up for the inconvenience by being absolutely stacked in terms of content.

Still no specific word on the Showa transfers, so my guess is massaged Kadokawa transfers, but given all the information here, plus a couple other details I picked up elsewhere, I can live with that.

I really hope they don't repeat the awkward packaging from Criterion. Arrows usually make beautiful package. Please be standard size...
Aside from that, this sounds like a dream come true.

Doesn't Toho have the rights to the Heisei trilogy?

Nope. Kadokawa. Toho distributed them in theaters when they were released.
