The WB titles seem to use one general North American release which is why it confuses me why the Best Buy exclusives aren't offered here. They already have the Canadian rating system on it

I have given up hope of buying physical media here in Canada. Outside of Sunrise Records (which has more stock then they really need... HMV all over again?), it's as if they've just disappeared from store shelves and we had only a few stores within that to begin with. I go between Best Buy, Amazon and Sunrise here, but that's rare these days. If I had to guess, my purchase are, 70% USA, 25% UK and 5% CAN.

The only sure things Canadians consistently get, are Shout/Scream Factory releases. Maybe late, but we get them. Every big studio and especially, small independents, are a crap-shoot. And if you're like the majority of us, who will not purchase any bilingual releases, then outside Canada, is your only option.

If they ask you why you're returning it, tell them why and ask them to offer imports like they used to! They're leaving money on the table by not offering them any longer and I've no idea why...

Yeah I import the Disney/Marvel movies now from the US.

I usually buy everything from Target because Amazon is always so late to get their stock. But now Target has a 'not for international shipping' message on their preorder movies so I'm not sure where the best place would be.

If only Best Buy US shipped to Canada ...

I've given up. I hate the French and the way it ruins the flow of an otherwise nice cover/slipcover, but I can't afford $50+ movies each. There's just no way.

Not only the awful bilingual packaging, the selection of movies has gotten absolutely abysmal in Canada, at least where I am in Western Canada. Only Walmart and Best Buy to choose from, and the selection is getting worse week by week.

I've been ordering from Amazon U.S. off and on, but the exchange rate is killing me, and they use UPS to deliver. I've had many packages delivered to the wrong address because UPS drivers aren't doing their jobs correctly. Thankfully every time this has happened, I've gotten some honest people re-deliver it to my house.

Also ordering from Amazon has its problems. Missing or damaged slipcases, discs loose inside the case. I've even has some discs delivered in plain paper envelopes. When I first started ordering discs when bilingual packaging became a problem, Amazon was a lot better with their service. It seems the bigger they've become, the worse service has to.

I'm going to try order from independent retailers like Blu-ray's For Everyone, and see how they are. I might be paying a bit more, but I might be getting better quality both in the product and in shipping. Thankfully when it comes to movies from Criterion or Shout! Factory, I order from them directly. No bilingual packaging, quality shipping (however Shout! has had some problems), and it's supporting the indie distributor.

I've been using Wowhd.ca for the past while since Amazon Canada is largely useless and I've had no problems. Items take a few weeks to arrive but they've always come in good condition - they use corrugated cardboard to ship and it's surprisingly sturdy. Free shipping too!

It's not just you. Even here in the GTA, Best Buy's selection has shrunk substantially, Walmart has tons.... OF DVDs for some godforsaken reason, and barely if any 4Ks, Toysrus I think dropped movies altogether. The only places consistently with selection are those ones in the mall that want $50 per 4K movie, and that's a HARD AF no.

Very true. My least favourite covers are where the English is on the left side of the cover and the French is on the right side, like the Jungle Book. So in comparison, Frozen II is damn near artistic.

I'm a little disappointed that it isn't La Reine Des Neiges et Le Bonhomme De Neige II

Toy Story 4 is still by far the worst of what you are talking about, imo.

Warner Bros seems to have stopped with this nonsense. Three Blu-rays I got from them recently (Detective Pikachu, IT Chapter 2, and Doctor Sleep) were all without French text in my local Walmart. They must have realized this bilingual nonsense just doesn't perform as well as regular packaging. Not sure if Disney will go back to regular packaging anytime soon, it just means I gotta keep importing.

I skimmed through the thread and I don’t think I saw this answer. Those who are importing the movies from the States, does the digital copy work here? I’ve found some studios have been screwing the Canadian release with bluray/DVD only packs whole the US still gets the digital. I tried buying them but the code wouldn’t work here. I emailed the studio and they were basically “tough, it’s US only.” So now I’m concerned if I buy the disney movies from amazon.com, my digital copy won’t work. Not to mention the movie rewards points. Even though the program went downhill.

Yes, sometimes they don't work.

I buy a lot of movies from the US when I am there and I redeem the digital copies while I'm in the US, which works.

However, there are some that don't work.
