I had the Mill Creek discs but the lack of English dubbing renders them useless -- for my purposes.

I mean, I understand if you're not interested in watching them -- but complaining that they're included or being as dismissive as you are about them being present is downright odd. I'm sure I'm not going to be alone in saying their inclusion is either a nice bonus, or actually a selling point altogether, for some prospective buyers.
no one is "complaining" really at all. if they were included then fine you can enjoy them or ignore them. whether they truly "need to be included" is more the debate. i understand the dubbing thing as i grew up with that as well. if the dub track was included at least as much as it can then i'd be fine with that as i think most of us would. a whole separate version of the film that is full screen and cut up not really seeing need. opinion of course and obviously there are many of those to be had on this thread.

Bull. MGM created a pristine transfer of Return of the Giant Monsters (Gyaos) for UPN broadcasts in 2001 (You wanna see proof? I have a copy and screenshots), and lent Neptune Media screener tapes of all their widescreen interpositives for the Showa films.

DO. YOUR. RESEARCH.

can you buy that pristine transfer? as for them lending tapes to Neptune who cares i wasn't sitting there when that happened and again that didn't result in a product to buy. this site is about physical media not something you recorded off the air

Wow, that's cool! I wouldn't mind actually seeing some.

Speaking of AIP restorations, Retromedia once created a new transfer for a special edition DVD release of Destroy All Planets using 2 16mm prints and color-correcting them.

While the idea is far-fetched and flat-out crazy, I wouldn't mind if they put out an AIP Versions set.

Another point: These TV versions were originally only shown in standard definition. What's stopping Arrow from just including them as standard def historical bonuses if people are so ****ing paranoid about bitrates or redundancies?

This useless indignation and the callous attitude towards alternate versions needs to stop.

i have that and while it looks better than most of the copies that have been floating around it was far from perfect. same with Return Of The Giant Monsters. if these were added to set that would be fine with me.

I'm in no way arguing against the inclusion of dubs. In fact, the lack of dubs is one of the biggest strikes against the Criterion Godzilla set. What I'm saying is, versions of the films that are CUT strictly for TIME AND CONTENT are pretty worthless. Gammera: The Invincible and Godzilla: King of the Monsters are interesting re-interpretations of foreign films. The TV version of Halloween II is heavily re-edited, showing different events than the theatrical version. But Attack of the Monsters is just Gamera vs. Guiron with some cartoonish violence edited out. By all means, include both AIP and Sandy Frank dubs and alternate title sequences. But keep the movie UNCUT. The cut version is a worthless relic.

The original SKU is out of print. Arrow only pressed it once, but it’s easily available most likely due to the high price point. (For example, the One Missed Call trilogy has a SRP of $49.99 compared to Ring’s $99.99.)

The second SKU, which comes out next month, changes the artwork and drops the booklet that came inside the initial set. The contents on the disc are exactly the same as the initial SKU.

The cut version is the original form of the dubbed version though. Keep the dubbed version INTACT.

No thanks, I’m good with the AIP dubs synched up to the uncut versions of the films where possible, which only leaves out GAMERA VS BARUGON, so if they want to reconstruct that one, that would be fine as it’s the only way to do it. A version of GAMERA VS GUIRON missing the gory bits is useless. I wanna watch it uncut with either the AIP dub or the Sandy Frank dub, just like it is on the Shout Factory DVD.

Have the two vol film collection, and the trilogy. Sadly can't fined Gamera the Brave. So I'll double dip.

Can't wait to have them all in one collection.

I just watched GAMERA THE BRAVE for the first time last night. It was okay. Not a patch on the Heisei trilogy, but better than I was expecting. Much more kiddie-oriented, with an ill-advised ridiculously cutesy Gamera head design, but the evil lizardy Zedus is fairly well-designed and it’s nice to see a return to nearly all suitmation with only a bit of CGI for Gamera’s flying and fireballs. Some extremely well done destruction effects during the finale with excellent miniatures and striking camera angles. Not bad, and I’ll take it any day over any Godzilla film released since 2003.

Shin Godzilla is easily better then Gamera the Brave IMO.

Any confirmation if there including the AIP dubs ? I personally want them over any other dub even if they had to throw in some subtitles to sync them .

Is there also any word if there using the UCLA restoration of Gammera the Invincible ?

Off hand does anyone know which of the Shout dvds had an AIP dub ?

They have not released specific details on what's going to be included with this set, other than we know it's going to feature the American version of GAMMERA THE INVINCIBLE.

Regarding the Shout! DVDs, GYAOS, VIRAS, GUIRON and JIGER all featured the AIP dubs. GYAOS and GUIRON also featured the Sandy Frank dubs, and ZIGRA never had an AIP dub, hence the Sandy Frank was the only dub track available. (Likewise, VIRAS and JIGER weren't part of the Sandy Frank package, thus Sandy Frank dubs were never created for those films).

If the (in some cases unfinished) special effects weren’t all CGI and the plot wasn’t all meetings, I might agree.

Yep, and for reasons still unclear the Shout releases of GAMERA and GAMERA VS BARUGON didn’t include the Sandy Frank dubs for them. GAMERA, GAMERA VS GYAOS, GAMERA VS GUIRON, and GAMERA VS ZIGRA were all released as double-features on laserdisc by Celebrity Home Entertainment in the Sandy Frank versions so I’m hoping Arrow is sourcing those dubs from the LDs if no better source is available. Unfortunately Celebrity only released GAMERA VS BARUGON on VHS. The first round of Celebrity Gamera VHS releases was recorded in the beloved SP mode; alas, there was a subsequent sell-through reissue in the dreaded EP mode, in substantially reduced A/V quality. If Arrow doesn’t have access to the original Sandy Frank masters I hope they at least have access to an SP mode VHS of GAMERA VS BARUGON to source that dub.

Can't wait!
Even though I have both the Shout Factory DVDs & Mill Creek Blu-Ray sets.
I don't have The Brave on Blu-Ray (it's $50 on Amazon)...

Hope they have multiple options for dubs!
Not sure if I have ever seen the AIP dubs for the ones with Sandy Frank involved.

I wonder if Japanese/HK produced English dubs for VIRAS, GUIRON, JIGER and ZIGRA exist ala the ones for BARUGON and GYAOS. In other words, more Ted Thomas and friends!
