didn't mean to upset anyone.
too late, I'm already livid at this g d thread bump!

But out of curiosity - what other Marvel steelbooks are you referring to?

Also - did you why wouldn't this be out of print almost two years after initial release?

Is it in the Disney vault? How the hell am I supposed to know? I just bought the other Marvel steelbooks at BB and I was wanting this one. The other Thor steelbooks are still available.

Marvel titles are not vaulted.
Steelbooks are not vaulted either, they are limited editions that sell out due to being sought out collectible items.

If you are referring to Thor and Thor the Dark World 4K steelbooks were released Aug 2019, along with a ton of other Marvel catalog titles on 4k

You are supposed to know by being a member here of 10 years and visiting/reading this thread, maybe?

there's no ill will here brother just stating a fact.

If you really don't know ill try to explain it so we can wrap this up with a neat and tidy bow.

Steelbooks normally sell out if one or all of these things occur.
1. It's a Popular and new movie
2. It's a good looking steelbook
3. Not many copies were made in the first place.

So, not only is thor ragnarok OOP but other marvel movies around that time or after usually are as well, Black panther, Spider man far from home, infinity war, Spider man homecoming, guardians of the galaxy 2, doctor strange etc all sold out and went OOP within a month or so.

The only original marvel steelbook that didn't sell out and can still be bought is Captain marvel because 2 things.
1. There were many who didn't like the film
2. They made more copies of it than the rest.

The marvel steelbooks you are seeing still for sale are NOT the original steelbook that came out when the movie released. they are all 4k re-releases with different art that came out within the last year, not only did they make too many of these but they charged too much (at first) and many people already owned the film by then and didnt wish to "Double dip" just for 4k which is why they are "still available"

And FINALLY lets get to why green lantern is a bad comparison.
Green lantern is a film that is agreed by many to probably be the worst superhero film (at least of the last 20 years). not only did they print too many copies most people don't even want one. Also its DC not marvel, and it was DC before the DC universe of movies even started to come out. Marvel movies are part of an EXTREMELY popular franchise of 20+ films and by buying one even if you didnt like the film you're adding it to your MCU collection. If you buy green lantern you're just getting a random standalone pooper film.

The early bird gets the worm, you waited two years to want a film that sold out 1 month after it released. Your best bet now is to either buy a foreign version, buy an overpriced ebay resell, Or wait for them to re-release with different art. (Which may happen as Zavvi already had one not long ago that many of us assume bestbuy will eventually get.)

Most steelbooks are meant to be colletibles, and collectibles aren't supposed to stay in stock forever, even though that clearly isn't the case for all of them, most SB collectors want the films in their collection to sell out and increase in value.

This has been steelbook collecting 101 Good luck.

I only made that comparison because someone mentioned year released. I wasn't basing it on popularity.

Now I have all the info, so thanks.
