You are missing Escape from New York, The Fog and Prince of Darkness. These
Three are available on 4k UHD Discs from Studio Canal.

And They Live. I left them off since this is the U.S. section.

I'll add them.

My favorite director of all time. These are easily 5/5 films:

Assault on Precinct 13
Halloween
The Fog
Escape from New York
The Thing
Christine
Big Trouble in Little China
Prince of Darkness
They Live
In the Mouth of Madness
Cigarette Burns

Also really love Vampires, which is criminally underrated! Starman is great, too.

His music scores are simply amazing. He created many iconic themes.

I love his minimalistic approach in everything he does, because he keeps things simple and gets the absolute maximum out of it. He is also one of the best VISUAL storytellers of all time. I enjoy his collaborations with cinematographer Dean Cundey the most.

Also, his score for Halloween 2018 is great. Looking forward to his work on KILLS & ENDS.

I wish his two Masters of Horror episodes were available separately on Blu-ray (like they were on DVD) or even together in a double-feature set. Once I get Escape From L.A., Ghosts of Mars and Dark Star on Blu-ray, they'll be the only remaining Carpenter titles I have on DVD.

They are available on bluray in Germany. Or was it Austria? I can't remember. But it's one of the two.

Individually? I thought the only Blu-rays for the show were complete seasons or volumes with a few episodes each.

EDIT: I found them. They're from Germany.

I never knew they got standalone Blu-rays overseas. I wonder if they're region-locked.

Nice thread! Carpenter is definitely tied for "my favorite director" with good ol' Spielberg. If it weren't for 70's/80's Carpenter and Spielberg, I probably wouldn't be working in the film biz today. As you can see by my "signature" below, HALLOWEEN and ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 are in my Top Ten favorite flicks of all time, and THE THING would probably be #11. I grew up studying Carpenter's masterful blocking/staging, and Dean Cundey's masterful lighting. Carpenter's filmmaking style is definitely in my cinematic DNA... and no one does "shoe leather" better than he does. Nowadays, everyone wants to cut out the shoe leather; make things "quicker" / "tighter"... but what would HALLOWEEN have been without characters slowly walking from place to place? So freaking good; so freaking inspiring. I literally feel like watching THE THING right now.

I would love if Scream could surprise us with a Carpenter/Russell commentary for Escape From L.A. It and Elvis are their only collaborations that they haven't done one for.

I have all of his directorial films besides Elvis (and the MOH episodes).
Being a Kurt Russell fan and minor admirer of Elvis I see no reason not to complete my set.

Big Trouble in Little China happens to be my favorite film of all time too. I was fortunately enough to snag a limited edition Big Trouble in Little China screen print of the theatrical poster autographed by artist Drew Struzan from Mondo. Later on, I was able to get JC to autograph that print (as well as an artwork print of Escape From New York). I've also got the two posters that came with the deluxe edition set from Scream Factory as well as another screen print for BTiLC from Phantom City Creative. Then there's the Famous Monsters of Filmland issue 276 about JC and BTiLC that I have framed in my home office and the Tyler Stout variant comic issue 1 of BTiLC that's also framed in my home office. Also got all the Pop figures for this movie. Eventually I'll start getting all the other little action figure types. Wish I could have afforded the Sideshow Jack Burton action figure but I didn't have $240 at the time and it's sold out now. Maybe a Christmas bonus one of these years will pay for it on eBay.

I also have a mini-artwork poster of They Live autographed by JC and a mini-artwork poster of Halloween autographed by JC (and Tony Moran who I got later on).

...then there's the T-shirts and vinyl haha. One of the vinyl records is also autographed by JC.

Might as well add this Blu-ray to the list above for Pro-Life if you want a complete list of releases. It's from Germany like the individual releases and it is region locked.

I just don't have an interest in Elvis, Body Bags, Memoirs, Star Man or anything after Mouth of Madness to buy them on their own. Now if they were in the a box set like I mentioned last night, that would be a different story.

Carpenter is the director that actually makes me want to go region free.

There's a couple of titles I could still get - Prince of Darkness for the documentary, Elvis is OOP, John Carpenter Live Retrospective, Cigarette Burns (probably only as DVD as I don't believe any of the Masters of Horror Blu sets are truly definitive), the German mediabook of The Thing for the TV cut, commentary and Scream extras, and Carpenter's writing credits on Eyes of Laura Mars and Black Moon Rising (or go 4K UHD for Halloween?) - but for the most part, Scream have been doing a lot of heavy lifting on Carpenter's films that just aren't available overseas, especially then older masters are used.

I binge-watched 3 TT westerns yesterday as part of an order, and, as is always the case, I found myself bemoaning the fact that Carpenter never gave us an honest-to-God, true-blue contribution to his favorite genre before hanging up his spurs.

Nevertheless, he's a hero and a godsend to fans of genre filmmaking for his nearly unprecedented run of awesomeness that began in the mid 70s and climaxed in the late 80s. He burned so furiously in that time span that an implosion was inevitable, I suppose.

He usually swaps #1 favorite director spots with the estimable Walter Hill, who was also doing God's work for genre film fans during the same time frame. I'm having drinks for both guys this evening.
