My main attraction to tapes and older formats is to view and compare differences from how the films are presented today vs then. Star Wars is the obvious, but Terminator is another interesting example with its mono soundtrack, etc. That and an old tube tv sits across from my bed on a desk, every once in a while I like to put something on while I sleep. (The big tv and home theater is in the living area.)
