Yes, I heard it too. He likes to say "did you hear..." even when I’m right next to him, as if I didn’t hear it too. Anyway, it was one of the anchors that said he heard it "from a friend" — no evidence, no expert opinion, just some jackass that heard it from another jackass.

Half of my co-workers are the “I saw on Facebook” type and it’s been trying. Customers can’t come inside where I am so now that’s all I can hear. I’ll put up with it though.

Fauci predicts Americans will likely need to stay home for at least several more weeks

WASHINGTON — Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Friday that Americans will most likely have to continue staying at home and practicing social distancing for “at least several weeks" amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“If you look at the trajectory of the curves of outbreaks and other areas, at least going to be several weeks,” Fauci said in an interview with Savannah Guthrie on the “TODAY” show.

“I cannot see that all of a sudden, next week or two weeks from now it's going to be over. I don't think there's a chance of that. I think it's going to be several weeks.”

When speaking about whether it’s time for President Donald Trump to use the Defense Production Act to produce critical supplies, Fauci suggested that the U.S. should be doing everything in its power to slow the outbreak.

“I think we should do everything we possibly can do. I mean, in all sectors, because obviously as I've said so many times, when you think you're maybe overreacting, you probably are not acting as forcefully as you should. So as we've always said, we've got to try very much to stay ahead of the curve.”

New York Governor Mandates All Non-Essential Workers Stay Home

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a stay-at-home order to more aggressively combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The "New York state on pause" directive — outlined as "Policies Assure Uniform Safety for Everyone" — requires 100 percent of the state's non-essential workforce to stay home.

"This is the most drastic action we can take," said Cuomo on Friday morning of taking a tougher stance to "close the valve" and flatten the curve of the spread of the virus by further reducing density.

The main two rules shared by Cuomo are that only essential businesses will be functioning and that residents are to remain indoors to the greatest extent to protect physical and mental health.

After first reducing the state workforce to 50 percent and then followed by 75 percent, Cuomo is now mandating that 100 percent of the state's workforce, excluding essential services, must stay at home. "We're going to take it to the ultimate step which is to close the valve," he explained of the measures. "Because the rate in increase portends a total overwhelming of our hospital system. We need everyone to be safe, otherwise no one can be safe."

The provisions will be enforced with civil fines, Cuomo stressed — aiming the warning to young people who have not been heeding the directive to social distance and stay at home.

He also stressed that words matter, underscoring that the directive is not a "shelter in place order," which is more broadly used in response to a school shooting. Under the New York guidelines, food deliveries and mass transit qualify under essential services. (Source)
