Looks great. I gotta ask. Why does The Empire Strikes Back have a picture Han Solo from A New Hope on the spine?

Just curious, if I already have The Last Jedi 4K steelbook, should I use that disc instead of the one packaged with the Skywalker set? I know the Steelbook had Dolby Vision but anything else different compared the the Skywalker Saga version? Thx in advance

I pretty sure the main difference between the original and new Blu-rays of TLJ is a no Dolby Vision, a new isolated score soundtrack, and a special from the Target exclusive set "Meet the porgs."

The regular Blu for VIII in the Saga boxset has the score-only version of the film as well as the formerly exclusive to Target featurette "Meet The Porgs".

Because that's the laziness that went into the official release!

Picked up seven of them at BB - no bag of course, lol. (what a ridiculous policy) I wish the slipcovers had gotten the fully embossed treatment, but are still pretty nice. Anxious to dive into the OT tonight and tomorrow.

Glad I held off on buying the digital copies... the $30 is def easier to spend knowing the DC's cost $15 by themselves.

The thing is, I only have a Samsung 4K TV. They don't have Dolby Vision.

Cool but does the 4K disc have any other differences besides Dolby Vision?

Yeah, they look and sound how they're supposed to look! Big! Bold! Colorful! Vibrant! Not washed out and smudgy. The 2011 discs aren't perfect, but at least they look like Star Wars for the most part. Hoth looks cold. Tatooine looks warm. Endor lush. Cloud City is vibrant. I want a Star Wars soundtrack to knock me on my ass! That's what the 2011 Blu-ray's do.

Except they don't.

I watched my pan and scan Special Edition tapes almost daily for a period of time as a kid, but the 2004 DVDs made a more lasting impression in terms of PQ. Those discs and the Blu-rays were so over saturated and high contrast. The new 4K disc for Star Wars at least is a huge improvement to my eyes, with a more natural look. The Special Edition additions look pretty horrendous clarity-wise. Can’t wait to watch the rest!

Streaming might catch up in the next few years as they find ways to download the data and store it to be played, but still, you are talking about GB's worth of data to be displayed and read so efficiently. Streaming is great, but I will still take a physical media for something I love. To each their own.
Thanks, but I was thinking more of the transfers themselves. I for one did not like how the OT looked on D+.

I've already pre-ordered the individual releases for the PT (and about to do the same for Rogue One when the price drops a little). It's a shame TPM doesn't look like it is supposed to but I still want it. The OT on UHD on the other hand, I'm not so sure if I still want that judging from what I saw on D+.

Cool

I popped in a few min of III, IV and IX and they all looked stunning. That's good enough for me. Definitely the best they've ever looked in my experience.
