The AFI 100 would be a nice start, although some would find a few titles they wouldn’t want to own. (Says the person with a couple thousand movies )

Best case scenario is that some studios move some planned catalog titles up in their schedule for July-September home video releases to fill in the gap some, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think for many of you.....after this month you wont be buying very many new physical discs at all unless it's stuff that's already in a warehouse. Trolls is out on demand on Monday and I would expect many new films to be released this way from now on, straight to the customer via their TV.

Not ever gonna be the main thing. It's never going to be all digital. Never. People will stop paying for movies when that happens. I'd love to see them try.

Good thing I haven't saved any money then.

I just bought the things I need and like, so I can do what I want.

I have been working from home for 3 weeks now, and I really like it.
Staying at home is what I usually do anyway, so no biggie for me.
I can play guitar, compose, listen to music, and watch movies. It's great.
Whatever will be will be. At least I have been enjoying my life so far.
I am glad I have purchased so many movies, and don't depend on streaming services which are now asked to lower the quality, so others can use the internet, or whatever.

Also, I just had a Netflix trial month, and I noticed that I pretty much already have all the movies I dig.

Life has changed as we know it. Not only might physical media get killed off, but the movie theater business might die too. No one is gonna want to go into a packed theater anymore.

There might be a hesitation to go out first, but if anything people miss it dearly. It won't last.

nope. That is NEVER going to happen either.

Teens need places to hang out. You also have to take someone out on a date if you're trying to take them home later. Maybe some shut down bc of financial issues, but there will always be a demand for movie theaters. People have been able to drink at home since the beginning of time too yet somehow bars still manage to stay in existence. People want that communal experience. In fact, movie theaters are becoming more deluxe (free refills, serving alcohol, offering VIP seating, leather lounge recliner seats).

They wouldn’t announce new releases & Birds of Prey was announced for next month already. I have about 10 movies preordered right now & have received no emails about any delays or cancelled orders. I would just avoid ordering from Amazon, I mean they’ve had employees test positive in their warehouses. As others have said luckily I still have plenty of movies I haven’t watched it but at the same time I am still out there working also. Stay safe out there though.

It can't live outside a living cell. Ordering from Amazon is safe.

Some of you guys really need to lighten up and try being positive for a change. All this doom and gloom talk. Things might be rough now, but it can and will get better. I lived through Hurricane Katrina. Lost everything, and was blessed enough to bounce back even stronger.

And I don't mean to come directly at you Jar Jar, but you're just the latest downer post. Lol at "no one is gonna want to go into a packed theater". There are people ignoring the quarantine just to gather with others right now (ridiculous at this point), so I wouldn't say "no one".

Well what I had meant was how some people are saying they are getting emails about delays in their order already. All my preorders are from Best Buy & Bullmoose.

Physical media isn’t getting killed off ffs, this absolute hyperbole at the moment is nauseating

Yes, it would be awesome if they started filling in release schedules with Back Catalog titles!

They never liked sharing revenue with theater owners in the first place and really don't care at what quality they distribute at as long as they make a profit.

That would also mean the potential end of disc production.
I still think it might end up being the opposite, once they, assuming they do and one hopes, get a vaccine or safe, highly effective treatment, and it may be over a year from now, I think theaters may see a huge surge in business as people learn to love again seeing movies with crowds and having that experience and how much more impressive things are on giant screens, people may be beyond thirsting for getting out.

That’s not entirely true. If viruses couldn’t live outside of living cells we wouldn’t need to disinfect surfaces that come into contact with them. The lifespan outside of the body may be as much as 2-3 hours on surfaces. Packages move from person to person to person before you get it.

I think that's what he means. Viruses don't live on stuff indefinitely. It also depends on the surface, keep in mind. Paper is of little risk due to its porous nature. It's still good to err on caution and wash hands after handling which is what people should be doing anyway regardless.
