I can't believe they're not releasing Ghostbusters 2 on June 16th, it's the 20th anniversary of the films release.

Ghostbusters (I) = day one purchase hands-down. It's a great movie.

Ghostbusters II = meh...whenever it comes down to $5!

I saw this on broadcast a while back. Man oh man, in my humble opinion, that movie was just terrible. How did they go so wrong with something that was so right?

Agreed 100%. I think it was just a bad script IMO. But yeah...huge Ghostbusters fan...the sequel never happend (just like Jaws 2). LOL.

What was so bad about the second one? I thought it was just as good as the first.

Thanks for the concurrence, Blu-Ron. I loved original Ghostbusters when it came out, and always watch it if it's on or if someone suggests it (both of which rarely happen). The second one just never did it for me. I guess I really can't explain it; perhaps just overly-cheesy or something...which is saying something when you're talking about a movie whose focus is about a group of goofs who fight/trap ghosts.

I agree with you on both! I don't see why people love the second so much. The first is a classic though.

It could be. I was 4 when it was released, and enjoy it quite a lot.

I got to see both movies in the theater as a kid and I liked GB2 much better at that point in time. Now that I'm grown up I prefer GB1 because it's more adult in nature. I still like GB2 don't get me wrong, it's great seeing the guys back together and busting again. It's just a more family friendly film than the original, and I think that's why it gets flak. Can anyone really be surprised that it was made that way though? With the success of The Real Ghostbusters animated series GB became a huge commodity with kids, so they knew a large percentage of the audience was going to be children who were fans of the cartoon. It's still a satisfying flick for me, it's just not as good as the original. But honestly how many films ever are?

i thought so as well. but i also owned pt2 and not 1 so that could be part of it.

music is much better in pt2 though imo

ghosbusters 2 was made for the kids. i loved GBII even though the 1st was much better. if you saw the cartoon it was ovbious who they were aiming it at..

1. made slimer a freind

2. changed janine and winston to be more like their cartoon counterparts

3. lower rating and no smoking

4. made louis work for the GBs like in the cartoon

Not feeling the cover art btw, I really hope that's not the final version we'll be getting. I mean it's the 25th anniversary and the best they can do for the cover art is use the same tired DVD cover art, but with blue slime?

I don't have any specific requests for the first film, I just don't want THAT. For Ghostbusters 2 however I'd love something using this image.

Always liked that picture.

I don't think that happened in the cartoon until after GB2 came out.
