I have no idea. Some screenshot I found on Google. I rented the Blu-rays. The episode "The Long Night" had a lot of pixelated crush. I was displeased. Wondering if the UHD mitigates it.

I downloaded No DNR v1.4 and v1.6 (minimalNR), the most recent version of each respectively.

I’m not the most technologically literate, so forgive me, but the minimal DNR’s apparently to reduce chroma noise introduced during the scanning process of 4K83. However they scanned 4K77 didn’t necessitate the same use of DNR.

The user who regraded 4K83 v1.6 has finalized LUTs for 4K77, meaning a new version of it with those applied should become available soon.

Have the Ewok and Droids cartoons ever been released in full?

I may look for these at some point. To be honest, I'm quite happy with the v 1.0 of 4K77, all things considered. Is it perfect? No, by no means (what is, though). But it is, hands down, the most filmic version of A New Hope I've ever had, and I've owned it on everything from bootleg VHS, official VHS, DVD, and the 2011 Blu-ray set.

4K77 v1.4 is definitely worth getting. It tones down the over-exposure in the Tatooine sections (particularly when Obi-Wan finds Luke) and eliminates the occasional green spikes to the image. 1.0 was indeed pretty darn good... but v1.4 non-DNR is everything I ever wanted out of the 1977 original; it's my "home video holy grail"

There's black crush on the Team Negative scans because they're from film prints which have much higher contrast than other sources.

They've done the best they can with the limitations of the source.

That reminds me... I need to replace the current versions I've got with the most recent ones.

1.4 is the most recent one isn't it?

Last time I remember trying to play 4k77 non0-DNR, large file size on my Oppo UDP-203 via a thumb drive, I was encountering stuttering. Either audio or video, I can't remember which. What are some suggested work-around for that as it seems others have been able to play it this way? Thanks.

I've played 4K77 v1.4 non-DNR from a thumb-drive via my Oppo 203 many many times with no stutter. Don't know what's happening with yours, but it is possible. Maybe it's the thumb drive and not the player? Mine is: SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 128GB. Works great. So I'd have a backup, I actually put the same files on two separate thumb-drives (of the same make/model) and they BOTH work perfectly. I rotate 'em when I watch, to keep the 'lectricity flowin'.

It likely depends on the quality of the NAND flash used on the drive. For example, I have some of the small (physically small, not capacity) Samsung FIT drives, and they will read and write at blistering speeds, for the entire process. I have some SanDisk cheapo Wal Mart specials that, as soon as the cache/buffer, is saturated read/write at damn near dial-up/DSL speeds, lol. So, my guess is that anyone experiencing stuttering from a USB thumb drive has one with some cheaper NAND flash that has atrocious transfer speeds after the first few seconds of use.

Still waiting for my individual 4K releases of Episodes 1-7 and Rogue One from DMC. Apparently it's bouncing around USPS Facilities. Guess they are really making sure the virus isn't on any packages now, making things slower. Hoping to get it today if not Monday.

Thanks for this. I really hope a proper 2011 v 2020 blu ray review will be posted on a review site somewhere, as while (understandably) everyone is obsessed with the 4Ks, there are still some luddites who haven't upgraded yet.

After reading the last few pages, I see that people still haven't learnt their lesson about judging PQ from screenshots. And no offence to anyone, but I also see way to many people in this thread trying to play reviewer with low tier equipment, whether it be for PQ or AQ. That's not a knock on people and their equipment because everyone has a budget, and to each their own, but it's not helping anyone make the right choices either.

I have watched the BDs and UHDs of all three OT films and have to say I am pleased. Of course I would have rather had the theatrical cuts but that is a dead horse I won't beat here. I am glad that Luke's lightsaber is finally blue when training on the Falcon, although it still could have looked better. Also, the clipping when the Death Star blows up at the end of Jedi is gone now.

I thought you went back to Best Buy or wherever to return your uhd set.

Amen to this. I'd love to see that review, too. Surely SOMEONE will make that comparison, because this forum can't be the only place with curious people.

While the box set looks nice, I'm not a fan on how the have the discs stored. I wish I knew this beforehand because this might have swayed me to purchase the individual movies.
