A new study published in the journal Antiviral Research finds that Ivermectin, a common agricultural drug used as a de-wormer for cats, dogs, horses and livestock — achieves a 5000-fold reduction in replication of the SARS-cov-2 “Wuhan” coronavirus.

Ivermectin is sold at agricultural supply stores and online retailers such as Amazon.com. It’s normally sold as an edible paste or a sterile solution for injection into cattle and other livestock. The drug is FDA-approved for certain treatments, although not yet FDA approved for treatment of COVID-19. We are not recommending it for human consumption until more data are available.

The study, is entitled, “The FDA-approved Drug Ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro.”

Is this like one of those 'cures' where people are suddenly dying from drinking methanol cause they read online it cures the virus:?

It wouldn't surprise me if that ends up being the case.

Just looked up 'in vitro' - basically means in a test tube - hasn't been tested on people yet.

Exactly.

People are getting so excited throwing this $hit at the wall to see what sticks. These things take a lot of time with trials to make sure a) they're safe and b) they work. This isn't going to come this week.

There's nothing there about a cat dying. The belgium cat did not die, it recovered after 9 days. There have been no reports of any cats dying from everything I've read. One dog is suspected of dying from it, but the owner refused to do a post-mortem to find the actual cause. The article about that says this:

Quote:
Some animal-welfare experts have suggested that dog’s death could have been caused by the stress of being quarantined and separated from its owner.
Transmission to pets, and vice-versa is a non-issue based on current documentation. I mean, even logically speaking, there's been over a million human cases now. If this was severely impacting pets, we'd definitely know for weeks (or months) now. There would be no shortage of first-hand reports of pet owners saying their cats and dogs are displaying symptoms, not just a handful of reports, many of which come from laboratory studies.

Well you got to think it's just like with humans - the majority will recover - but cats with 'underlying conditions' - ie. I know cats can have diabetes, heart issues etc. most likely wouldn't survive.

Question is, how likely is an animal to be infected from their owner???

You got to think the zoo handler isn't snuggling with the Tiger and getting cat kisses...

Hawaii is nice....but I've just been to so many nicer places. Considering the time it takes to get there (for me), I'd rather go to the Caribbean.

And if Volcanic tropical islands is your thing, much more amazing scenery in places like Madeira or The Azores...

Again it was ok, just for me maybe not as great as I expected.

I assume you’re on Medicare and a supplemental Part D prescription drug plan (PDP)? I know at least in SoCal that the deductible for Anthem Blue Cross MediBlue Rx Enhanced (PDP) has remained at a relatively low $275. with a monthly premium of about $20. You may want to check out and see if that plan is available in your zip code area if you haven’t already investigated as such.

And do the mail order prescription thing, given your risk status no need exposing yourself by going to a local pharmacy unless they have a drive-thru.
