Hmmm, that definitely sounds like classic troll behavior.
To be fair to him (and I don't know the whole story, maybe he is trolling over time) this is a physical media vs. digital thread and you guys seem to have gained monopoly on it. No one would dare come in here and explain the virtues of streaming (of which there are many, just like physical media.)

It's dangerously close to ganging up and bullying behaviour, and don't make me into the bad guy because I have nothing against any of you. It's just an observation.

The digital-only market still remains, in his view, as a small market by saying that "Very few are digital only".
Many people who stream, rent or subscribe to Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ etc... they don't necessarily buy films. Although some do, big titles like Frozen 2 sell a good deal.

No worries. I agree with you. I have no problem with intelligent, open discussion that weighs the pros and cons. But he doesn't do that. He comes in here repeatedly sharing anecdotes about the death of physical media, how everything is moving to streaming and how streaming PQ is just as good as physical. Then when people call him on his BS or offer factual evidence to the contrary he vanishes, only to pop up later stating the same fallacies.

Go back through the thread and you will find more than enough evidence of his patterns. It is classic trolling behavior.

If that's the case and he is spreading falsehoods and isn't listening, then maybe you all have a point. However, if he generally believes those things are true, then that would be his opinion, and would fit in with the thread.

I don't know it just seemed like everyone was attacking him and it didn't seem fair to me. I hate bullying, and I don't think it was intentional, but that's how it's coming across.

I agree with you, it should be countered. Still, I think we have to be careful not to shut down anyone who prefers digital (as that's the whole point of the thread. Physical vs. Digital.) Which do you use? Which do you prefer? And why. [Not you particularly, although feel free to answer.]

Personally, I have both and I use both.

I use both but my streaming subscription of Play More is just crap.
If the video store would reopen I would cancel and go back to renting Blu's.
The quality is so much better.

For movies I really like and watch more than once I always buy them.
I like looking at my collection and going through them.
It's a part of who I am. I can't imagine not having a collection.
Just having a few pages on a screen to flip through. The horror.
It wouldn't feel right and you just don't own it.
I want to be able to put on whichever movie I want whenever I want.
Streaming does not provide that.

You are not familiar with his posting history and he has posted 1,211 times in this thread and much of his posts are comprised of the same debunked falsehoods that are his stock and trade. He reposts the same disproven misinformation repeatedly thereby causing the regular contributors here to . He never learns anything from anyone.

I certainly do not mind that he prefers streaming. Even I use streaming. I don't even care that he thinks that it looks Amazing and Fantastic, either.

It is when he repeats the same tired personal anecdotes as fact, his trips to Walmart are infamous, that you feel a scream welling up in your throat. He delights, yes, delights, in constantly telling us that discs are dead or dying.

He also speaks at length about 4K discs, 4K disc players, and their manufacturers, when he has never owned either nor has he even seen a 4K disc played by his own admission. When you have read the same nonsense 1,211 times it will try even the patience of Job.

Just remember, Your Highness, that being an archduke doesn't always end well:

SCLee thanks for being open minded, I don't know where to begin with these comments. This Thread started 5 years ago, and I have been a member since 2009 when I did prefer Disc. I started to do 1:1 Back-ups with DVD then into Blu-ray, and saw that it was a File that could be Streamed to your TV and I preferred not to have all the Junk on the Commercial Disc. I realized that Streaming this File from a Disc was the same as Streaming from a Server. So when Streaming came along I embraced it, and it became my preferred Format.

Yes you could go back on my Postings, but I have always said that Disc was just a File on a Storage Device put that same File on a Server and you should get the same Quality. Bitrate became the big divider between Disc and Digital. That's why your readings from your 4K Player became a main topic that had to be verified. There are only a few on this Thread that prefer Digital and some both, but the ones that prefer Discs can be vicious and will do just about anything to prove their point. Like I said, it's all Digital made from the same DI, and the only dividing point is the Bitrate but the Streaming Providers are working with their given Bitrate to bring up that Quality.
