Does it look the same when playing games on the PS3? Is this effect due to the 1:1 pixel mapping so that there is NO stretching of the image? I would hate to spend the money on the display and then see all the output stretched from 16:9 ratio to 16:10, but I could more than happily live with the black bars considering that the image is full HD...

Actually, those black bars are part of the movie. Whatever the signal is, the monitor displays. Bars, no bars - whatever it is. The monitor itself has the following options to pick from:

1:1
Aspect
Fill

I have left it on the default of Fill. I also have not played with it beyond that. Everything looks perfect as if I were watching it on my plasma.
