Enjoyed the movie it was intense but it's almost like they edited it so the movie fits within 90 minutes?

I used headphones and the audio was only ok, there seem to be some volume issues with some action on screen suddenly became quieter than expected.

so question in the end..
[Show spoiler]did Rambo sit on a chair and bled out or did I see him on a horse riding away

Now on amazon Prime. Just finished watching it. It wasn’t high art lol, but I was entertained. It made me hate the bad guys and made me want revenge on them too.

That's exactly what happened. The US and UK got a shortened cut, everywhere else got the original 101 minute cut.

Well, the completist in me wants this even though I didn't care for it. It's also been long enough that I'd like to give it a second shot. Trying to find the best version out there, meaning UHD extended and hopefully a region A BD without hardcoded subs for either. Read through several pages and I think I'll just go for the domestic release. Seems too convoluted.

If anyone knows of a 4K / BD combo that features the extended cut without hardcoded subs and a region A friendly BD posting a link will be appreciated.

You'd have to Frankenstein a copy. The German UHD and the Australian Blu-ray (Definitely double check on this being region free though).

I'd imagine it'll eventually get a extended cut in the U.S. like Rambo 2008.

What benefit is there to getting a German UHD? Is the BD region free? I know it is not English subbed during the Spanish parts and has German hardcoded subs for the Spanish parts. That is enough for me to pass.

I thought about the Aussie but concerned over region issues on the BD. I see the Extended Cut is now streaming for free on Prime. I'll just see the deleted opening that way and get the domestic release. I generally hate getting imports unless there is no other choice because of their ugly 12 and 15 ratings on the cover.

Wrong. The German UHD is the only way to get a 4K of the extended cut with English subs for the Spanish dialogue.

The BD is not region free but the UHD is (all UHDs are region free). You select English audio and you get the Extended Cut with English dialogue during Spanish sections. It's perfect and everything we were hoping for if you are wanting the Extended Cut.

If for some reason you want a BD to go along with it, the Aussie release is Extended but I'm not sure if the disc is region free.

As for the art, it looks like this:

The spine is in English with no rating symbol. No slipcover though. I kept my original US release just to have it but the German UHD is my definitive copy.

Sounds good. Thanks for the thorough answer. I think I'll just watch the extended on Prime and get the domestic UHD. If for some reason I think the extended is that much better, German is the way to go.

Just watched the UHD in Amazon Prime. Shame the extended cut is only in 1080p but I quickly watched those scenes after.
Didn’t really miss much.
They did a good job establishing the bad guys, I just think they rushed it too much at the end.
Heck, one of the main villains is killed off screen which is strange in a movie this violent.

That off-screen kill kinda reminded me of

Yeah that really bugged me. It felt like an extremely bizarre decision.

Just watched Predator 2 on UHD the other day. Not sure why that one gets so much hate. Underrated IMO and much better than anything that came after.

I dunno what other people think of the extended cut, but I really dug the added scenes especially the beginning, the rescue attempt was a better way to start the film than what they gave us in the states. Why didn't they just leave it in? It only benefitted.

I’m spilt on the film. I really didn’t care for it the first time around and the extended cut didn’t change my mind. I really loved that first opening scene though. I think it made me dislike the EC more because it was all downhill from there for me.
