I believe they can't trade Dak as he doesn't actually have a contract. I may be wrong.

For those that still think there's a chance of NFL playing game this year the Rams and Charges are going to need to find a new stadium to play in should the NFL hold this season. LA may not authorize large events until 2021.

Quote:
L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti confirmed today that the city may not authorize large events, such as concerts, sporting events and possibly movie premieres, until 2021.

“It’s difficult to imagine us getting together in the thousands anytime soon,” said Garcetti. “We’ve got many, many miles to walk before we’re going to be back in those environments.”

Garcetti also confirmed a report that quoted a fire department email sent after one of the mayor’s multi-department briefings that stated “large gatherings such as concerts and sporting events may not be approved in the city for at least 1 year.” That would take the ban well into 2021.

I don’t think the NFL plans on having fans in the stands to begin the season.

Does not matter the city will not clear them for a sporting event fans or no fans, they will be forced to find other venues to book said events for both teams.

I bet they will change their tune as we near Week 1. Although in your quotation they were referring to crowds of people. Empty stadiums are a different entity all together. And I imagine a lot of powerful people want to see games kick off in Week 1. We shall see what happens.

Full article was stating they wont be given clearance from the fire dept to run any events in said stadiums. I know your holding out hope against hope but the data is suggesting there's a very good chance this year is a wash until the end of the year for nearly all sports.

I strongly disagree given the current circumstances.

So they won't have the games in LA. If there's no fans in the stands, what does it matter where they play? Seems like FL would allow it

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer revealed that Los Angeles Rams player Brian Allen tested positive for COVID-19 three weeks ago. While fans were sympathetic towards Allen and wished for his quick recovery, many felt Glazer may have overhyped the news, which was teased many hours in advance. The Rams confirmed the news saying Allen is “feeling good” and “on the road to recovery.”

How is it going to work? Play all the games in one state and test players before each and every game? Just so many things that can go wrong. This isn't 2 people in a ring.

It’s only April. Let’s give it a couple months and see what the situation looks like. The NFL is fortunate they have a lot of time on their side.

But they dont have a ton of time on their side. Theres the draft in 2 weeks, then the camps, what kind of product is being put on the field without the mini camps and training camps. How are coaches supposed to evaluate players and conditioning if they cant run the mini camps and training camp?

Each team opens these camps with near 100 players, that's not including security, catering team, physical therapists, doctors, coaches, assistants, trainers, and facilities staff. This situation according to doctors isn't clearing up anytime soon. That's far to many people in a close environment if 1 person shows any signs of infection. You also seem to be ignoring the virus can be spread by an infectious person for days before they become symptomatic. If 1 person has it they could infect everyone 3 days before they show and by then its already to late.

The big test is going to be China, does the virus spread again being that they have reopened Wuhan and their retail stores after 76 days. If China experiences another surge of cases which i fully expect them to based on all medical reports the US may not even consider reopening anytime soon.

The economy relies far more on retail then it does sports, and until our businesses are able to reopen and people are able to get back to work I don't see the sports world reopening. Hell I don't see many caring about sports if they cannot pay their bills, which is the case a ton of people are in. This is potentially the start of our version of the Great Depression, this is not something that will just pass without dedication and ingenuity or someone dropping a bomb on an enemy to restart the manufacturing sector. This only passes if our scientific community can solve the problem and come up with a cure and vaccine quickly.

Retail has been going. Some retailers are only online and have still been, largely, able to operate. Many B&M retailers have adapted by pushing online sales and curbside pick up(this also applies to the restaurant industry as well).
But sports has literally ground to a halt. This is why cautious steps are being taken to slowly start up pro sports again. As I mentioned the PGA is planning to start the tour in June and have already rescheduled The Masters. MLB is looking into playing all their games in the Grapefruit League fields of Arizona, much like spring training where several games are going on at the complex at the same time. NHL is thinking about doing the same, but probably in Canada as it’s getting too warm to use Southern US rinks past June(when the Cup finals are typically held). NASCAR can run races with no fans...although that might not be different than normal.

As long as ramped up testing is done, and the leagues pay for the many added medical personal(more jobs), it can be safely done.
It’s a tough situation to be in: stay hunkered down, have the mortality rate gradually creep up while the economy goes down the tubes...or gradually start the wheels turning and try to pick up the pieces before the economy gets too bad.

One team has to travel while the other one doesn't. That's inherently an advantage.

But yeah, it would be weird watching games on TV with no crowd noise. Wonder if they'll overlay crowd recordings for broadcast.

I just can't see any team but the Cowboys giving Dak what he wants - a market-setting 4 year deal. Even the Cowboys are hesitant to do it because they want to sign him to an 8 year deal. Guessing it'll get done in July right before the deadline, when they can't wait anymore.

Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports, "The Vikings haven't had any trade discussions with the Browns about WR Odell Beckham."
Robinson added, "No calls about Beckham Jr. and no discussion of trade compensation. As an aside, the Browns do not have Beckham Jr. on the block." There have been some lower-level reports indicating the Browns were shopping Beckham, but that always seemed like a bit of a stretch. Cleveland currently boasts arguably the most talented WR-WR-RB-RB-TE core in the league, giving Baker Mayfield numerous high-level weapons and a great chance to rebound from his porous 2019 season. OBJ was obviously a disappointment in 2019, but increased reps with Mayfield, combined with the potential to have better health, makes 2020 a prime bounce-back campaign.
