The only way that would happen as far as I know is if the 3DFA have been able to assist... Bob?

Fingers crossed? Given that Scream Factory did such a bad job with Amityville 3-D and Metalstorm, and that they are crazy for region locking, I would pray that it's not coming from them...

I feel the same way about Kino. When I see them linked to a 3D project I know there is a very high possibility it’s going to be region locked.

So you'd prefer I seek out the b**tl3g as opposed to supporting a official release then?

No, I was just saying that SF have a 2 out of 2 track record of not doing a good job with Silver Age 3D releases.

The 3DFA aren't involved with any restoration of this title.

Plus it was released in 3D, albeit the inferior version, so licensing can’t be the issue either. I’m not sure how you make anaglyph 3D, but maybe the source material for a polarised master is missing, or damaged beyond repair?
There is actually no good reason why this never got an official 3D Blu-ray release. The materials are there. It's just greed and/or stupidity (both human and legal) that's inevitably to blame.

Paramount were/ are crazy to just sit on the 3D version of this movie and not put the stereo version out on disc.

And Mission Impossible Fallout, and Bumblebee. Paramount never really had much of a clue when it came to 3D. But I think there's a bit more to it with this film, the impression I get is that someone actively does not want it coming out on Blu-ray 3D.

There never was a legitimate 3D Blu-ray release. If you see one online it's a bootleg so cannot be linked to or discussed here.
So the German/Russian copy is bogus? I had no idea.

Russian pirates are quite industrious but thing to always remember is that if it says [No 3D Blu-ray] in the thread title, that means that there's no 3D Blu-ray.

The only legit 3D releases are anaglyph 3D, both on DVD and Blu-ray.

Watched the 3D version that came with the boxset tonight. I struggle with this type of 3D on a projector but I decided to watch it via my PSVR. I balanced the glasses inside then put the headset on. It was actually a cool experience. Being so close to my eyes, the pop outs were fantastic.
Obviously I want a proper 3D version but I did get some enjoyment here.

Over the past six years, we have over twenty successful 3-D feature restorations under our belt. This film has baked-in distortion issues due to the single-strip, prism-based lens system utilized during principal photography which we can now fix digitally for a flawless 3-D restoration.

In short; if this film were to get a new restoration from original 35mm elements, the 3-D Film Archive would be the acknowledged experts best suited for the task.

It would be the ideal time with that new boxset including all the films in one package. It must be as frustrating for you and your team as it is for us fans.

If the film is going to get restored in 3-D, it should be done correctly.

It's VERY unlikely there will be a second chance at getting it done right.

What I’m reading is this set is due late summer. If that is true and a 3D disc is included, is there even time for the 3DFA to get it done at this point or has the ship sailed? I don't pretend to know how long it takes to restore something like this, but the fact they've already filmed interviews for the extras and have told people it's looking like late summer puts this on a pretty short timeline. Is it possible to restore a film that quickly or is this basically telling us if there is 3D, odds are someone else is already restoring it at this point?
