I know, that's why (and I can't put this delicately) we need to re-open the economy. As soon as there's a safe (relatively) plan to slowly un-shutter businesses and get people back to work, it needs to happen. Life will continue after this pandemic but we'd like to minimize the economic damage it's causing. That's not even touching, say, the educational damage.

Not disagreeing, but think about this...

Ok, so everything gets opened up again.

I for one am not rushing out to get a haircut, I won't be caught dead in a movie theatre...not going on any vacations for at least 2 years. Not buying a new vehicle for the forseeable future. I'm fine drinking at home versus going to the pub (assuming any are still left after all this) etc. etc. etc.

Life will continue but it won't be the life that everyone was living prior to the pandemic.

Schools (public) have pretty much closed for the rest of the 2020 school year. IMO they will probably be safe to begin again in their August/September openings. So I really don't see too much long lasting damage from the closing of schools 3 or 4 months earlier than normal.

And not everyone says "coming through!" when approaching from behind - in fact pretty much nobody does. I have never yet heard anybody say that, unless it's "excuse me" as they are practically bumping into me.

This is why I say they should focus less on masks, which many people wear wrong anyways, and many are ineffective if they're homemade.

There has been a strong shift lately to talking more about masks and less about washing hands, when it should be the opposite. Washing hands and using sanitizer are effective. Masks have limited value compared to basic hand washing.

I think people are focusing more on masks now than hand washing because that's what the media is focusing on.

And this is what has business owners very concerned about. Not only will they have to deal with social distancing but also extra through cleanings which were not an SOP of their business.

People, just by human nature will be paranoid of coming in contact with others. We have been drumming into them to stay home, stay safe and keep your distance. With no vaccine on the horizon what will have changed people's minds to go out?

Well again, that's why I think the antibody tests are critical. If I find out I've been previously infected - I won't think I'm invincible, but I'd be much more likely to start to live my life again.

Personally, I can’t wait to get back into a movie theatre. Try stopping me. Life needs to go back to normal when this calms down, fear is not a good way to life the rest of your life.

While it's very important that people continue to wash their hands, I think it's hard to understate the importance of wearing masks under the current guidelines imposed in many areas. After all, the vast majority of the virus is contracted via the air, rather than from surfaces.

That was BEFORE the pandemic. Now people, for the most part, have a different view about mixing socially. Notice how many here on this thread have complained about others not respecting social distancing.
