I happen to like toilet jokes, thank you very much, Apatow and Smith are actually my two favourite comedians. Have never seen this before but have yet to see a Smith movie I didn't like so will definitely blind buy.

I think Mallrats or Dogma is my favorite... but this is a movie that deserves it as well.

I enjoy all of kevin smith's movies but damn this guy needs to lay off the 50 million different versions of movies. there are like 4 different dvds of clerks, mallrats, and dogma. Now he want's to release another chasing amy.

sounds to me like he just wants money.

I like Kevin Smith's movies and all but there's nothing quite like a rich famous person bragging about what they got for free.

The region code for Blu-ray in North America is "Region A". The numbers were for DVD regions.

The Amazon listing for the April 7th U.S. release is just the import from Canada (if you take a took at the cover art, the french title also appears).

I don't understand this sentiment. Kevin Smith released 10th anniversary editions of Clerks and Mallrats, with tons of extras, just like plenty of studios have done with movies over the years. There are quite a few different versions of Blues Brothers, Animal House, etc. out there, too. Would you never want to see them restored and put on Blu-ray? It's not like they're releasing 10th anniversary, 11th anniversary, 12th anniversary, etc. versions of these movies. Hell, you own Office Space, which has seen just as many different DVD versions as some of Kevin Smith's movies...

And then, just so I understand, you say that a movie like Chasing Amy, which has seen only ONE DVD release so far, is going to be brought to Blu for the first time ever (even in spite of Criterion), it's a money grab? Or are you just jealous that Kevin Smith has a strong fan following and knows how to make boatloads of cash off of only a few movies?

Why come to a site that promotes Blu-ray and then complain that people shouldn't be releasing movies that are already on DVD on Blu-ray because it's a money grab? It can't be because you're a Blu-hater, since you own 58 frakkin' titles...

I have both J&SBSB and Dogma on Blu, they've been out for a while now.

Clerks - 2 versions
1. Original Collector's Edition
2. Clerks X - 10th Anniversary

Mallrats -
1- original CE
2 - 10th Anniversary

Dogma - 1 version

Chasing Amy - 1 version
1. Criterion

J&SBSB - 1 Version
1. Original

Clerks 2 - 1 Version
1. original

I am not counting Blu-ray releases as separate versions, it's a different media and even then it is one version of each movie, for whatever has been released.

If anything, Kevin Smith is quite the opposite. He puts out super loaded versions of his movies on DVD the first time and if he re-releases something he justifies it with a lot of extras not in the first release. He could EASILY release a bare bones version and re-release something a year later and his loyal following would buy it again. But he doesn't. He is purposefully trying NOT to screw the consumer.

You just hitted the pin!

Kevin is not liked by the holy movie reviewers for sure!
When I actually read a good review I'm getting scared not to like it.

Do you guys remember Jersey Girl?

Cheers,
Gui.

I need to start replacing my DVDs of all his movies with the Blus. I am a huge Kevin Smith fan. I have just about everything he's ever done directing and acting. I used to have more but I had to sell a little bit of it off last year.
