I've heard a lot of people's PS4s are messed up after the 7.50 release. Infinite boot cycles and BD drive not reading games. I haven't updated mine yet...

Mine is 100% fine thus far. The update installed in Rest mode, so that might have something to do with it. My OS install is also newer because I upgraded to a 4TB SSD and installed the previous OS update, so that too might have something to do with stability, as most PS4s are piling update on top of update, which causes corruption issues over time.

It's good Sony are still releasing updates, but I think it's safe to say we're unlikely to see anything brand new now. CD playback is not happening!

Only one blu ray player that can't do CD. The only one. That's pretty impressive.

This sort of stuff the good ol' PS3 definitely had the advantage. Media playback, and yeah, probably nothing new at this stage.

All I know is that the PS5 had better be able to play back 3D BDs. Especially on the PSVR2.

Have had UI errors with latest update.

Reported them all so far.

UI also appears to run/navigate slower with online content in home screen.

It doesn't play CDs so they don't have to pay the license fee. It'd be nice but I can't really blame them. It's a niche format at this point.

I've seen other mention this, but the video grab option, using Share, is getting really slow. I'm almost tempted to reset the console and re-download everything to see if that speeds things up again, it sort of feels like a PC that needs a clean sweep to work as quick as it once did.

I rarely use it, but since I started playing MW there's a good 30secs to a minute lag between me hitting share and the console actually taking the screenshot. I cant even get it to load a video to share.

Trophies take about the same time to pop up on screen too. Really annoying. Sooner PS5 gets here sooner I can drop the POS Pro.

I always find this funny. Like... who cares? Are you upset it doesn't play VHS tapes too? I mean, this isn't the 90s. You can play them in almost anything else and you can rip your discs into mp3s and play them via a USB stick. PS4 Pro not having a UHD drive is a bigger issue.

I don't use my PS4 for anything but games so the CD less doesn't bother me. In fact mine has been in storage for a while.

It's rather impressive to me that there is only 1 model of Blu Ray player in the known universe that won't play a cd and I really don't think there are many good reasons that CD playback can't be done on a PS4.

Maybe PS5 will play CDs! It will play UHD BD. Maybe it will be the only UHD BD player in the known universe that doesn't play CDs.

Trophy timing I think is determined by the game. There are games where they pop almost instantly.
