That is a rights issue.....

If people don't want to buy it at that, or any price then there is an opinion for you.

Indeed there is, as I mentioned in the Arrow thread.

Thanks guys, I thought it might've been a posh word for essay. Is it me or is that just a bit too pretentious, at least when it comes to a bit of fluff like The Game? It's the "academia" part that gets me because Arrow's essays often indulge in political rhetoric from woke academic types and the idea of a feature-length one doesn't appeal to me. They're including some other stuff in the booklet, yes, and normally I'd champion the inclusion of the American Cinematographer article - but I've already got the issue it appeared in so even that doesn't make me as moist as it would otherwise do

The A Fish Called Wanda article was embarrassing. Not sure if I've read any others that are particularly woke but there have been plenty of weak ones lately.

I was looking forward to purchasing this as I've always thought it was an enjoyable film but there's no way that I'm shelling out the kind of money Arrow is asking for!

Does the Universal blu ray feature the same transfer of the film? If it does then that'll do me at £7.

This US Uni Blu features the Criterion master:

I believe any other international Uni disc uses an older master.

Yep. Buy that for £7, grab the SE DVD for a few quid and boom, you got your own Halfway Deluxe edition!

[edit]
And with a better encode than the Criterion

How long is the AC article?

RoboCop and Fear and Loathing reassured me by doing more half page images and not leaving that many pages devoted to images alone - Arrow should keep doing that.

I loved that article and it’s usually the case with the ones everyone on here complains about

Because if you have the Criterion version then you have everything already. At least Kwaidan came with 100-page book and a few exclusive special features.

I did, that's why I bought it: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...8#post11531028

Still has exclusive extras

Quote:
New audio commentary by critic and programmer Nick Pinkerton
Fool's Week: Developing The Game, a newly filmed interview with co-writer John Brancato
Men On The Chessboard: The Hidden Pleasures of The Game, a new visual essay by critic Neil Young
Archive promotional interview with star Michael Douglas from 1997
Alternatively-framed 4:3 version prepared for home video (SD only), with new introduction discussing Fincher’s use of the Super 35 shooting format
But it’s the classic Arrow problem (at least with Children of Men and Crimson Peak) of only having archival interviews and not being able to conduct new interviews with the main cast and crew. Besides John Brancato and the archival Douglas interview the exclusives are all critic responses - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all, but usually those that worked on the film have the best and most insightful stories.

Personally a good 50 odd page booklet would be worth £5 or so to me - hence why Indicators for £20 are still worth it. A bonus Blu-ray could be worth at least £5, maybe even more depending on the content (some of the cost of a Blu-ray is for the case and cover over the disc itself). Sure a 200 page book on its own could be worth £10-15 on its own but this isn’t on its own and its fully dependent on how strong the content within it is. I’d need the reviews to justify it.

I would also say that if this didn’t include the reprinted articles, it could probably be a standard issue £25 LE with a 100 page book. I mean unless the reprints aren’t very long.

Ah, I totally missed that. Normally it'll have "NEW"in front of new extras. Threw me off as I skimmed the features. Thanks for clarifying that.

Had the Criterion laser - sold it. Had the Criterion blu ray - sold it (in anticipation of the Arrow release).

Just bought the US Universal blu ray and the UK SE dvd.

That'll be that.

Sold?
What's that mean?
The only one I don't have anymore is the Super Jewel Case dvd (sadly)
