Most saw this coming after other Dark Castle movies being released by Scream. I expect Orphan (2009) being released by them soon.

I think House of Wax is definitely next and if they decide to do Orphan, then they must do Gothika

Seems they're doing the Dark Castle films in order of their original releases—House on Haunted Hill (1999) first, then Thirteen Ghosts (2001), now Ghost Ship (2002). Very excited to get an upgrade on this one. The current Blu-ray is pretty dull, and has one of those static menus with every option crowded onto one screen. I remember putting the disc in for the first time and being confused by the menu.
All of the Dark Castle Entertainment movies hold fond memories for me, and really helped introduce me to horror movies. I saw Ghost Ship when I was around 12 with my dad at the Avalon Theater in Portland, OR, a cheap second-run cinema attached to an arcade inside a very old building. I had missed the opportunity to see it in the first-run theater when it came out at Halloween, and by Christmas vacation I had convinced him to take me to the only place it was still showing in town. I remember him saying it reminded him of The Shining in parts, and it definitely does capture that vibe in some moments. I'd love new releases of House of Wax and Gothika too, though I more would like to see a Blu-ray release of Feardotcom. I don't think that was a Dark Castle title if I remember correctly, but it was by the same director of House on Haunted Hill, William Malone. |

Warner has tons of catalog titles in the horror genre that could use an upgrade, why is Shout focusing mostly on Dark Castle? Their movies aren’t exactly beloved gems. There’s a reason the company is now dead.
Ghost Ship in particular is just The Shining on a boat (and not in a good way). |

But oh dear, I dread a release for The Reaping and The Apparition. Those are easily the most painful Dark Castle films to watch (not counting Getaway because it’s not a horror film). |
