I don't really understand how someone can pop a blood vessel over the size of a cool blu-ray set.

Probably the same reason people were complaining about the size of the Godzilla set. Some might not have space for it and would prefer having it the size of their other Blu-rays. Hopefully someone will make custom cases for people who want it.

The worst is, outside of this and the Godzilla set, I rarely complain. I'm usually very happy with most releases and I don't obsessed that much with PQ, extras and even the artwork. It's really just the size that is awkward here.
Anyway, like I said earlier, i've cool down since. It really doesn't matter. When you look at what's happening around the world, it makes you feel really ridiculous to complain about the size of a box set. It's all good. Hopefully they'll release a smaller set eventually. :P

I recall that way back on the ADV releases, the subtitles would read "Gamera: Guardian of the Universe" even when translating Japanese extras where the person speaking spoke the Japanese title rather than saying the words "Gamera: Guardian of the Universe". It's minor compared to some problems, and I don't know if anyone from the company is reading this, but I really hope these are translated correctly this time. Anyone have any idea?

If you haven't seen Kaneko's Gamera Trilogy, you need to stop whatever it is you're doing right now and watch it. Best Kaiju Eiga films ever made.

Except it's split 50/50. Just as many people loved the packaging as much as those who hated it. You hated the Criterion Godzilla packaging, I loved it. You hate the Gamera packaging, I love it and it motivates me now to keep my preorder intact unless I have no other choice.

Now my Godzilla set won't feel so lonely.

You definitely need to check out more Godzilla movies. If nothing else, the original 54 film, Mothra vs Godzilla, GMK, and the two Kiryu movies.

I much prefer the HGL Cereal Box size or the Criterion Bergman set that can stand on their own and fit on a normal tall shelf. I'll get it regardless with the 1st 50% offer I can find -- not a full priced Gamera Fan
It says in the video that Gamera is the same size as HGL and Bergman.

Going by your numbers, I'd say 50% is a lot of us. :P
I never said everyone, i'm well aware some of you are happy, which is great. Anyway, at this point it doesn't matter, it is what it is.

Is that still Matt Frank? The artwork for this release is just so good, what a difference it makes when you hire an artist that knows the material!

Yep it’s Matt. So glad this art will be oversized instead of being squandered by the very small normal blu ray size.

I'm starting to warm up to it. It will look gorgeous. Anyone else read Matt Frank's Godzilla Ruler of the earth comics? God those were awesome!

Printing it at a large scale is mostly beneficial to the newly commissioned artwork. In fact I'm pretty sure that was the whole goal behind Criterion's Godzilla set. It was a art book combined with a Blu-ray collection. I imagine if Criterion had separated the two many fans would have still bought both (but would be happier to fit the Blu-rays on their movie shelf).

The Gamera set being cereal box size means the reprinted comics will look great (hopefully, upscaled pages can be iffy being a comic printed in the 90's), and all the new Matt Frank work can be better appreciated.

Speaking of the Godzilla set, have you all seen Mondo's Godzilla prints? I have to say... it blows some of the stuff in the Criterion set away. No offense to those artists.

That person stole a design I made and put it up on eBay.

Incidentally, I do have plans to make a scaled down version of the artwork when we get higher quality images of the artwork. But I'm not sure how openly I'll make it available.

Understandable given how jerks steal great designs to make a buck. I for one would be interested. Really enjoy your designs.

Yeah, after someone stole your artwork and made money with it, I don't blame you...
Thanks again btw, love your work!

Looks like all the films (except for Gammera The Invincible) will have audio commentaries.

Quote:
All 12 of the Japanese releases will have commentaries. Gammera the Invincible is the only one not to receive one. Matt Frank posted this awhile back but subsequently deleted it.
