Although he said all I had to do was contact him to get $7500 and I would have definitely been willing to take his money in a real bet, I wasn't going to take it under conditions I would consider something else (you can guess what words I would use).

I had to laugh when I was sent that link a while ago (although I had to search on google just now to find it again).

That is hysterical.
The first I have heard of it.

You weren't the only one complaining about the A-man over at AVMS.
I did a lot of it myself.
What is most irritating is that the Powers-That-Be over there ALLOWED him to spread FUD.

Paid,
Any news on PS3 decoding Master Audio? Especially if the new Fox titles include it.
Thanks!

A while back I said we needed some word from Fox. And we got a positive hint from Penton-Man (thank you sir). The reality turned out to be impressive, but of course seems reactive to the Paramount situation.

Now I think we need a statement from Warner. A cloud can not be allowed to hang over everything for weeks on end. Blu-ray consumers deserve to know where Warner stands on continued support.

Josh (beatboy) is on AVS saying there is a major announcement coming from the BDA in the next day that will dwarf the Para/Dreamworks deal and basically end the war.

Any guesses as to what this might be? He just hinted it is studio related?

Any insiders care to comment on this?

With all the recent bad news in the Blu-ray forums, and now even Michael Bay has recanted his previous condemnation of Paramount and says he WILL go ahead with Transformers 2, is there any good news on the horizon for Blu-ray fans? I don't want specifics if you can't give them, but if there is some hint of good news that will be coming our way, it would be great t hear it!
Thanks.

"Eitherway, if the BDA can finalize this contract that I am privy too, the Paramount announcment will be nothing more then a moot point anyway. And if they do not finalize it, it will just drag this format war on for several additional months, with still Blu-ray winning in the end anyway IMO."

He seems pretty sure. What the heck could it be?

That’s it Darin,

Long story short, the A-man insulted me referring to a situation that we had agreed to put to rest as the topic had closed or severely damaged several threads that required intensive AVMS moderation in terms of either deletions or edits.

The A-man then, a couple of weeks later, resurrects the topic again with a snipe insult directed to me and me only.

I responded to him by providing the link that you show above and I recommended to him that behavior such as resurrecting this topic and that indicated in the link you provide was not wise for a V.P. of a major corporation.

A football analogy (since we’re approaching the season) is that a known dirty red jersey player attempts a kick-back block or “clip” at the knees of a blue jersey player (me). The referee sees it and does absolutely nothing at all. I walk over and slap the offending player along side of the helmet for his mischievous intent and the referee “suspends” me from the pro football league. The length of the “suspension” never being stated and thusly considered indeterminate or perhaps permanent at this point in time.

Who cares, I found a better league.

Here’s a heads-up for somebody that I can’t remember who PM’ed me quite awhile ago.
I normally don’t hang out with the Sony Electronics people these days because I purchased my Qualia 006 awhile ago and really had no questions for them since then.

Plus they’re down in San Diego County which aint exactly next door to me.
Anyway, I’ve been invited to go on a charity bike ride with a group of them in several weeks. It looks like I may just be able to participate.

The word is that there just may be a display guy going on the ride. So, will the blu-ray forum member that asked me specifics about some upcoming front projector from Sony that he couldn’t find any “official” specs on or even get a ballpark MSRP, please PM me with the number of that model again, or better yet, post his query again on this page for all to see so that hopefully I can get some good information for anyone else contemplating a serious purchase in the near future to watch their Blu-ray movies.

This of course, is all contingent upon the fact that I can prematurely release some information that isn’t considered detrimental in any fashion to the strategy of the marketing dept. over at Sony Electronics.

You are really busy and not answering the Beatboy related questions ...hmmmm. Beatboy has a knack of overstating things. Since Fox is in the game again, maybe they have reached an agreement with George Lucas on his little movie series?

Likely the VW200 front PJ.

Default BD software & hardware concerns

Two questions to insiders about containment of the software situation and anticipation of stiffer competition for hardware.

1) In view of Paramount’s apostasy, what’s to prevent it happening with Warner? Informal assurances of future support aren’t enough. Is there anything that could be done to oblige Warner contractually (in return for incentives of some form) not to become HD-DVD exclusive? E.g. get them to agree to match any future HD-DVD releases (over some period) with BD releases of the same titles on same day in suitable quantities? (The existing situation with The Matrix, Batman Begins etc. is ridiculous and now there’s the real chance that Microsoft may buy their loyalty outright.)

2) Given MS’s readiness to fork over cash to extend the format war, what strategy does the BDA have to counter the possibility of further Microsoft expenditure on the hardware front? I think the talk of $200 HD-DVD players should be taken seriously -- all MS has to do is to subsidize the players on the game console model like they’re already doing for Xbox. It would even be relatively cheap for MS. A paltry extra $100M could create a ‘limited supply’ of 1 million $199 (down from present $299) ‘special offer’ Toshiba A1s this holiday season. Granted MS couldn’t do this indefinitely, but an extra 1M standalone sales would roughly quadruple the HD-DVD install base and (esp. with the expanded list of software exclusives) seriously prolong the format war, if not scupper it entirely. I don’t think this is a mere abstract possibility considering MS is comfortable losing lots of money on hardware (Xbox) and that after all $200 HD-DVD players have been promised. In fact I think it reasonable to assume that MS will actually go ahead and do such a thing.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

PS. Yesterday went out and bought Dog Day Afternoon (Warner), bringing my BD collection to a whopping 17. Won’t buy HD-DVD for obvious reasons.

I'm not sure Insiders are going to be too forthcoming after being burned by the delay on the Target announcement. That was a done deal that got delayed and made some people look bad. But I agree, Penton being silent doesn't exactly give me a warm-fuzzy feeling.

That's probably me

The PJ's I was asking about was the successor of Ruby/VW100.
Public or PM is fine either way
Specs or any info about VW200/Diamond(maybe two diffrent PJ's?) would be great

it's probably the new Sony VPL-VW60. 35,000:1 contrast ratio, supports 24,48 & 50Hz refresh rates. No price announced. Altho I am a Sony fan, I would look into the JVC RS1 instead. Native 15,000:1 contrast ratio without using a "dynamic iris" which has issues in my view. I think the JVC is now the number one front projector in sales right now.

The new rumored JVC HD100 with 30k:1 native contrast sounds like a killer
