Oh Man! PS3 Problem! - Blu-ray Forum

Okay so I'm watching Quantum of Solace and I've already watched it before and it played perfectly and all the sudden it just stops. I try hitting play or go to the next chapter nothing so I try to eject the disc and it takes FOREVER but finally pops it out. So I turn off the PS3 fully and then turn it on and put in a different blu-ray Bolt...it doesn't even read the disc nothing happens. It sounds like the PS3 is trying to do something but it keeps stopping and repeating the sound. I've never had a problem with it so I don't know what to do. Help is appreciated!

how long have you had your ps3?

Shoot I dunno for awhile I remember I got it when CE3K first came out which was November '07 so a year and some months.

id let it cool down for a while and try again.

What's happening is I've put different blus in and it reads them but when it tries to load the menu or whatever it freezes. But it won't even read Quantum anymore but it read Bolt and as it was loading the menu it froze and if I tried to play the movie nothing would happen it would just go black because it froze.

I don't want to burst your bubble but sounds like your lazer diode just died on your ps3...mine had the same symptoms twice and sure enough thats what it was...good luck...

EDIT: oh given the additional symptoms it might be something else...

does your ps3 lag at all or is it just not reading stuff?

What do you mean by lagging? I mean for some blus it's not reading it at all and for some it reads it but eventually freezes.

Okay so I shut it off for awhile and now it seems to be working...I don't know what to do. I mean what if it starts up again?
