One of the things I hope gets answered is how Christian goes from a terrible alcoholic father to spiritual island guide.

Well, then you guys are GOING to be disappointed. There has never been a show like Lost that DID explain everything. It's impossible to even try. The entire last season would have to be nothing but documentaries explaining every facet of the show to explain everything. And I think it would suck if season 6 turned into the Similarion of the Lost universe.

And the fact that you discount one of the producers explaining exactly why the numbers will never be explained...

Yes.

Unfortunately I think that many of the questions will not be answered but then that leaves it open for us to dissect the show for years to come, probably more like weeks and we will move on, but years sounds better.

Maybe I don't remember the details well enough, but why would RA think a young Locke would recognize his future life's compass? Was it some sort of test to see if 'special' people become cognizant of their future? Or is it some sort of reincarnation concept?

When I was at the writer's room talk for LOST. They talked about why the show was great was because the mythology is always in the background. The characters never seem to be enamored with the details we are.

But when I was talking with Carlton, he mentioned that a crytographer for the CIA put a code in the next episode of WIRED magazine. If anyone can figure it out, they'll get a huge clue about lost.

The thing is, this is the same cryptographer who put some crazy code on the statue in the front of Langley that NO ONE has ever solved.

As far as plants and payoffs. If something has been planted, there will be a payoff, it's just a matter of when it happens and how they get there.

If they don't give an explanation for the numbers, I'm going to be really pissed. That's a HUGE part of the story and has reoccured so many times that it must be explained.

I don't know, the more I think of it the numbers get importance in their own existence then they can from anything else. What I mean is this, let's say someone buys a lottery and wins
if he used the machine to pick random numbers then it stops there, if he says they are my lucky numbers then the next question would be "why are they lucky" if the reason given (maybe even after asking "why did you think they are lucky?") he might say they represent important dates....... you never end and at the end it is just luck and can't be explained.

Kind of the same here, why would you believe some numbers have super powers? No matter what they say (secret code in some secret archaic society, build on important dates....) it won't make them any more acceptable. On the other hand (as an explanation of sorts) maybe the numbers have their own importance and that is why they are there. We don't know everything yet, but if Hurley is important and we know that he was there because he played those numbers and he played those numbers because that nut was repeating them and that nut........ all the way back full circle to DI. Maybe those numbers where given to DI in order to make that loop (maybe even by someone time traveling and knowing that this must happen)

Carlton Cuse is one of the showrunners and executive producers of Lost (along with Damon Lindelof). He's the big dog.

or how about the obvious, that when he was that age he picked it. Kind of has to do with what I said above

Actually, when my friend and I spoke with Carlton, he said there will be a third part to that RA Locke thing. So look forward to what that might be.

I agree with ckenisell's post about how the ending of season 6 is going to be a downer. There are so many unanswered questions...and the fact that we're not going to get the answers is really disappointing. The Numbers are a HUGE question hanging over our heads..if they pull that midi-chlorian deal..it's just

I also enjoyed the theory of Ben becoming Ben was due to the fact that Sayid shot him. All of the abuse and neglect etc...it's a really good theory. I think the ultimate thing will be Jack neglecting to help Ben when he's crying etc. On-top of DI finding out that he let Sayid free...it's going to be a sh** storm and it will lead to Ben wiping out the gang. Again, it's a small theory but it sort of works.

The whole problem with the show was they didn't know where it was going...then they finally figured out that 6 was the end so they're just trying to rush everything in..while forgetting many things.(example: where is the dog and Rose & Bernard. I'd suggest a season 7 lol give us all the clues so when we watch the complete series, we can be grateful that every little detail is explained. Someone mentioned that this may turn out like the Sopranos...everyone was like WTF! We need closure. Another poster thought it was awesome how the mysterious cable in the sand led to the huge ending of season 3. This is my favorite show...I hope it doesn't end up where most people are speculating...

If we assume they cannot address every issue about the island in Season 6 what are the most critical things you want answered to make you feel the show finished in great fashion?

For me, mostly in order:

1) What is the origin of the island, I think this will answer what it is too
2) Who built the statue and why
3) Who tore down the statue and why
4) Who created the Wheel of Time and what's on the other side of the rock wall
5) Who or what is RA
6) Who or what is Jacob - thanks to GoYanks reminder
Of lesser concern to me are:
1) Is there any real significance to the numbers
2) What happened between CW and Ben
3) What happened to Penny
4) Who are the Hostiles/Others, their origin

And of course, how do I talk Hurley into giving me some of the money he doesn't want!

For me it is like asking if someone is a truly happy man. It can't truly be answered until his death. The guy might be all smiles now and might have been all his life until this point, but what if some tragedy befalls him and he is sad depressed and lonely for the rest of his life. The same here as the plot develops I am sure some questions might increase in importance while others decrease so any list will be misleading. Earlier in the show I thought the numbers would be extremely important and I would want a good answer to them. They where all over the place and affected everything. Now I don’t think I care. With time travel, at least for me, they are unimportant I will not feel cheated with no deep explanation for them.
