Looks like Hot Fuzz will get a release on July 27 according to Amazon.

Can't wait. No Shaun of the Dead unfortunately.

I hope it will be region free. If so, it will be well worth the import. I wish the bastadges at Universal would announce a release here....soon.

I too can not wait for these to be released. Lets hope they are not ported over from the HD-DVD release and get a nice transfer for BD.

The Hot Fuzz HD DVD was absolutely stunning, so there'd be nothing to complain about there. But considering Universal has re-encoded every single title they've ever released on Blu-ray, I don't think there is any chance of Hot Fuzz getting a "port."

That movie was one of the best releases, PQ wise, on the format.

You should be hoping it IS a port from the HD DVD, so they don't decide to add DNR or something. Some lossless audio will be nice.

Danny Butterman: Where's the trolley boy?
Nicholas Angel: In the freezer.
Danny Butterman: Did you say "cool off?"
Nicholas Angel: No I didn't say anything...
Danny Butterman: Shame.
Nicholas Angel: Well, there was the bit that you missed where I distracted him with the cuddly monkey then I said "play time's over" and I hit him in the head with the peace lily.
Danny Butterman: You're off the ****in' chain!

This is going to be a must-have. I loved Hot Fuzz the first time around, and considering Universal's excellent quality on blu-rays, this should be great.

If anyone's interested, it's been out in France on Blu-ray since October 23rd 2008. Amazon.fr link.
It's distributed by Universal Studio Canal Video though, and according to Blu-ray Region Code Info:

[French Release] Hot Fuzz Studio Canal Region Free: No [note: Might also be region free, but contains a 50Hz PAL intro.]

Hot Fuzz (with an 18 certificate) and Shaun of the Dead Blu-rays are both out on October 12th. You can pre-order them both on Play.com as part of their 2 for £22 promotion!

Does the Hot Fuzz BD have all the special features that were on the HD-DVD and 2 disc UK SD-DVD?

One thing I hate about upgrading to BD discs, is that sometimes, for whatever reason, bonus features from a previously released DVD are sometimes not always put on the BD version, so it feels like I am paying more for less, which sucks.

And I am sorry for reviving this thread, but if I had made my own, chances are, it would have been merged with this one anyway, lol.

It appears to have everything that was on the US 3 disc edition, including the Hot Fuzz US tour documentary.

I assume that it has all the same stuff as the UK 2-disc SD DVD then?

Yes, it has everything and more: the Fuzzball Rally (uncut) the new commentary with Tarrentino and more blogs and podcasts.
