The insect title and art does make more sense for the content of the movie and arguably the insect art looks more exciting for marketing purposes.

Thanks. I assumed it was something as simple as that but figured I'd ask anyways. I'm not a huge fan of the insect title as while it may be more honest to the movies content, it lacks any pizaz or excitement and for me is far to mundane. Blue Monkey grabs the readers/viewers attention and sticks with you far better than Insect does as "Insect" sounds like a pretty mundane made for Syfy Channel title.

Either way I'll be buying the film so it's of little consequence, but I can safely say that had I been browsing a store shelf and came across a film called Insect and a film called Blue Monkey, that I'd have picked up and looked at Blue Monkey where as Insect wouldn't have likely gotten so much as a glance.

As far as I'm aware, there are no previous domestic releases of Blue Monkey under the Insect title, but I'm sure Ruined meant to say that there was a company named USA Video that released it on VHS as Insect in West Germany.

The movie was released as "Insect" in far more countries than "Blue Monkey" as noted by a simple check of IMDB. I haven't cataloged every VHS release of this title but IMDB indicates there was a United States home video release of the title called Insect (see attached):

Yep same boat here. I was this close to picking it up yesterday but figured I can wait for Blue Monkey. Eventually the two will be available at the same time.

Nope. The US video release was never titled Insect. It has always been Blue Monkey in the US, from theatrical to video.

Maybe, I was going by the IMDB entry which lists Insect as an alternative home video title used for the United States. I haven't cataloged every VHS release of this domestically and internationally. Regardless it appears Insect title was the dominant title outside of USA/Canada, while Blue Monkey was used in USA/Canada based on IMDB info . So both are equally valid ways to release the title.

100% true. It has always been known as "Blue Monkey" in the US on every theatrical and video format. Never "Insect". imdb is incorrect, again.

The only thing IMDB is good for is reading reviews right after you watch a movie and wondering how drunk/high they were to get everything so wrong...

For something like this where you need collective info on alternate titles in various countries where else would you go though?

IMDB isn't perfect but it's pretty darn good

Does anyone think Primal Rage and Blue Monkey will eventually be available on Amazon? I'm so tempted to hit that puchase button on the Dark Force site but just want to make sure.

Perhaps, but it is unknown how long it will be before that point. It don't believe its been announced definitively either way.

Ahhh, yeah. It for sure seems a little random of which titles get the Amazon treatment...probably will just end up picking it up on the DF site. Can't be too picky I guess, just grateful this has a release!

Welp, couldn't resist and ended up picking up Primal Rage, Dead Pit and The Carrier!

Looking forward to Terror Express and Blue Monkey! Day one!
