Thanks Hariseldon! Thanks for the info and the count update. I am glad I ordered the two I want even though they arent in danger of being low yet. (I'm 23) and when I was ordering my mom was with me looking at the order and thought it was silly I was only ordering 1 title. At first I thought it was 6.40 shipping for each, then she made me double check the shipping and due to her encouraging I added My cousin Rachel as thankfully its NOT 6.40 for each title. I just wish I would have added Dragonwyck too. But I'm really NOT up for paying more shipping.

Well, I certainly will never forget your birthday now! When I met Gene's daughter, Christina Cassini, I asked her if she and her mother shared birthday celebrations since they were born on the same day, November 19. She looked at me incredulously and said, "You actually remember our birthday? Mother would have loved you!" That made me very happy.

Drownsoda you hit the nail on the head. Right now the focus is on Fox and TT, rather than say the Warner Archive, as those titles will be around in 1 month. It's so crazy who would have thought during this covid we would be collecting 2 lines that are literally going out of style (or print, in this case)
I have such a list but some are on hold more than others. But I'm gonna out some on my birthday list- that wipes put at least 3 titles!

The French blu-ray release on Rimini Editions is actually Region Free even though the back of the case says B only. The picture quality is good, comparable to blu-rays of other Fox Cinemascope of the era. You can turn off the French sub-titles. There are 3 French mini documentaries in the special features, but they are unfortunately are in French with no subtitles. If you want to see this film it is a good quality release.

There were other notable successes, of course, including three revered noirs: Whirlpool (1949); Night and the City (1950); and Where the Sidewalk Ends (1950). She was superb in Paramount's hit comedy, The Mating Season (1951), and was very touching in Close to My Heart (1951), a classy soap opera at Warner Brothers. The last huge box office hit she appeared in was The Egyptian (1954), which was one of the top-grossing films of the year and a cult classic.

Tierney appeared in 36 feature films between 1940 and 1964, and so far, 12 of them have been released on blu-ray. That's a pretty good batting average, really. I was so disappointed that Twilight Time never upgraded The Left Hand of God, in which she starred opposite Humphrey Bogart, to blu-ray; it was one of their first DVD releases. Of Tierney's 36 films, only five of them have never been released in on DVD or blu-ray in the United States: Belle Starr (1941); A Bell for Adano (1945); The Mating Season (1951); The Secret of Convict Lake (1951); and Personal Affair (1953).

Miss Tierney certainly did well by Twilight Time, and vice-versa. I will always be grateful to them for that!
Wonderful post! I too am slowly becoming a fan. I watched Laura years ago when I finally purchased the Fox Film Noir DVD but I wasn't really taken by it, maybe all the build up ruined it for me, but when I saw stills of Leave Her To Heave I had to have it so bought the Spanish bluray (not watched yet) and have placed an order yesterday for the Criterion version.

I can never remember if I have the French bluray of The Left Hand of God but I think so.

I just received TT notifications that my last orders or two items each were shipped in their entirety. No updates on my two big ones from weeks ago.

Was your May 20th order smaller? It almost seems they might be shipping smaller orders first, that's the only possible trend I've noticed in the comments people have posted. Other folks have posted similar comments, that their later orders shipped, while folks who ordered on the 10th haven't had their orders ship yet.

Nope, all my orders are 2 movies each. I'm shipping to the UK so want to avoid extra tax payments.

Unfortunately I share mine with a veritable rogue's gallery of crooks, scoundrels, scumbags, corrupt and incompetent politicians, unworthy kings and bigoted genocidal fanatics through the ages.

I share one with Bill Murray. Same date; same year. He still refuses to admit we’re twins. Just because we were born hundreds of miles apart. I told him that just makes us distant relatives.

No way! I also share a birthday with Bill Murray. He sends me a birthday card and a signed photo every year saying “happy birthday to my favorite bro’.”

Okay, so I might have just dreamed that last part, but my birthday really is 9/21.

And I used to work for a producer who had to skip out of the US after being accused of running a call girl ring at their New York HQ.

None of his films got released by TT. Quite a few by Kino, Severin and Shout, though.

Yes, I met her in Houston, at the auction of Gene Tierney's estate. I purchased a lot of rare stills from Gene's personal collection, and Christina later sent me a few more rarities, including two of Gene making her television debut on a local New York program in 1947, The Sir Charles Mendl Show. I also bought a large lot of books and papers which included Gene's signed copy of the play The Male Animal, the stage comedy that brought her to the attention of Darryl F. Zanuck; a spiral bound notebook that Gene talked about in her autobiography which contains original poems (one dedicated to Howard Hughes) and costume sketches; a selection of hand-written compositions from her days at school in Switzerland (teacher's note: "Gene, you must improve your penmanship. It's atrocious."); and several other goodies.

Christina and I talked for about 15 minutes, and she was extremely sweet and gracious. At the end of our conversation, we exchanged addresses, and she later sent me some more stills, and a few other items, including one of Gene's expired insurance identification cards, and a thick algebra workbook signed by Gene at the top of every page.

She was a charming woman with a soft, musical voice, and I appreciate the time she took to converse with a star-struck fan, and especially her generosity in giving me some artifacts from her mother's life that I will always treasure. Years later, I was truly sad when I learned that her father, Oleg Cassini, had been secretly remarried for years before his death, and had left his entire estate to his third wife, cutting Christina out almost entirely. She sued and won, but died just a few years later. The news of her passing greatly saddened me.

I was also born in July, and share a birthday with Richard Dix, Chill Wills, Lupe Velez, Elizabeth McGovern and Vin Diesel.

Have you seen The Snake Pit before? I saw it the first time when I was 12 or 13 years old, and it scared the heck out of me. Olivia's performance is a tour de force. I personally believe it was the highlight of her distinguished and fabled career.

Your Mom sounds great, dude. Cherish the time you have with her. And definitely have her around whenever you are placing orders. Suggesting you add more to an order rather than subtract makes her a true kindred spirit to all of us on this forum!
