Universal Studios Bourne 6

Quote:
Marshall also revealed that he’s looking to restart another franchise about a globe-trotting American agent: Bourne, baby. Matt Damon starred in four films as the amnesiac spy Jason Bourne, who slowly learns what’s going on around him, and how good he is at punching people. They tried to soft reboot away from Damon already with the Jeremy Renner-starring The Bourne Legacy. Now, Marshall is keen on it again, with different creative teams than the original: “I do like the Bourne series, and I do think that’s an opportunity for different filmmakers to come in now. So, I’m hoping that we can find a new story for Bourne and a new filmmaker. We are looking.”

So a recasting of Jason Bourne or a new character?

I vote for new characters & new stories.

Bourne recast like they do Bond....idk.

I liked the Bourne Legacy but didn't feel right without Damon and the Jason Bourne character,I would try and get Damon back but if not I would much rather see the Jason Bourne character recast like the James Bond films or Jack Ryan then not to have the character in future Bourne films.Just seems stupid to continue a series on about Jason Bourne without Jason Bourne.

Matt Damon or bust. Damon is the Bourne franchise, like Cruise is the Reacher franchise and the MI franchise.

I always wanted a sequel to The Bourne Legacy. Instead, we got the needless (and largely worthless) Jason Bourne. His story concluded quite well in The Bourne Ultimatum. Money talks.

Problem is Jason Bourne did absolutely nothing for the franchise so if they go with Damon again, they have to follow up on that movie.

I didn't mind Jason Bourne (I actually liked it), but yeah, it really didn't add much to the franchise, unlike the other movies.

Yeah I liked Jason Bourne just fine. It always amuses me how people choose which franchise movies to over-scrutinize and which ones to let slide.

JB totally excelled in the action, visuals, performances, basically everything worked great... except for the story. It just wasn't all that intriguing to me. Call me contrarian, but I dug Legacy a bit more.

Legacy wasn't bad at all! It's solid.

I like Legacy more, too. But I don't think the story deficiencies in Jason Bourne are enough to sink the entire movie. The stuff it does well, it does very well. If Jason Bourne is the worst of the five, that's a relatively high floor for a franchise.

I agree, and JB is still a masterclass in action filmmaking.

I loved Legacy, more Aaron Cross please. I do think thought that JB achieved absolutely nothing for this franchise. I don't think it brought new fans in and i don't think it really satisfied the majority of existing fans. It played out more like a Bourne best of and a box ticking exercise of all the things one would expect from a Bourne movie.

IndieWire: Paul Greengrass Might Be Done Making ‘Bourne’ Films: “I’ve Done My Stint”

Quote:
During the press rounds for his Tom Hanks-starring western News of the World, Greengrass was asked if he’d had any conversations with Universal about returning to the Bourne world.

“It hasn’t come up recently, so I actually don’t know what their plans are,” Greengrass told The Playlist. “I’m sure they’ll make more Bourne movies, I hope so. I don’t know whether I’ll be involved, but I’ve done my stint really, haven’t I? Let’s be honest. But I love a Bourne movie, and I love the actor, and I wish them well, you know. The truth of it. I’d be first in line, that’s for sure.”

That certainly sounds like he’s tapping out of making more films about Jason Bourne/David Webb, but it’s worth noting that both Greengrass and star Matt Damon were adamant that they were done with this franchise after 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum.

Agree Ultimatum was a perfect ending for the character.
