My wallet is about to experience the real meaning of pain. I will assume that all those scanned from 4K discs they released on Blu-ray will now come to 4K UHD.
This now makes the speculation about Inglorious Bastards more interesting. |

Can’t say I’ve ever subscribed to a thread so fast.
I’m going to speculate that upcoming 4K titles from them are Crash owing to the recent deal with they made that supposedly includes it, and The Thing owing to being one of the few titles from the Universal Russian list that are yet to be announced or released |

Well I just received the German Crash release, so it would take a lot to make me double dip there (5 minutes into going 4k and double dipping is already a possibility! Doh!) but I'll buy every upgrade of The Thing until the day I die.
If this is going to turn into a reference thread for all Arrow releases with the first post continually updated I'd prefer the US ones to be here, but clearly denoted. |

It depends on if many of those included UHD rights. UHD rights are generally separate but a studio like MGM includes UHD rights in their deals. Not to mention, a lot of these 4K masters probably don't have proper HDR grades or were done with a 2K workflow. I'd love to see stuff like "The Apartment", "Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia", "Carrie", "A Fish Called Wanda", "Robocop", and "To Live and Die in LA" released on the format.

this is superb news!
It makes sense kinda why we haven’t seen any Universal titles from arrow the first half of the year, (could use fact check, I scanned through and the last title seems to be The Far Country, if you’re not including The Game that will come out in July, but is using the Criterion scan), which now leads me to believe we could see the postcard titles they hinted at on 4K discs, (Wolf of Wall Street (UK only?) and Inglorious Bastards). I suspect if they’re going to double dip on anything first, it would be something from Universal that wasn’t recent. (The Thing is the big one that comes to mind). Personally, I know it’s a long shot but I would love for them to pick up Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for their Academy line. That film could look so much better.. This is exciting to see what comes down the line, and I’m going to kinda hold back my excitement a bit till they announce a 4K disc that isn’t a Universal title. (Holy heck, what if the rumors were correct and they DO have Cemetary Man?) ![]() |

I've seen a few people complain that Arrow's output this year has been a bit lacklustre, but it would make sense if they were trying to store up the 4k titles and get things where they didn't have the rights out the door first. I would assume they don't have the likes of Robocop and wanted to get it sold before everyone complained there was no 4k (I know they got some of that, but they'd have had a lot more if they were already doing 4k titles) so I would assume we'll get a slow and steady run of 4k each month now with the Universal titles being first and reissues low on the agenda for the timebeing. They've put out a couple of 4k titles on iTunes, and I assume that means they've been getting the rights bundled in but they don't think they'll get the sales numbers on the smaller titles. It's going to be really interesting to see what they take a gamble on for 4k, personally I collect all their Japanese titles and looking at the shelf, as much as I love them I can't see much that I'd advocate for 4k on (Battle Royale seems like the biggest seller, but after that I'm really not sure) so I think they'll be sticking pretty solidly to major studio titles and genre headliners. Slight curveball for my Wishlist would be Ronin, as their release was from a 4k scan of the original negative.

I was pretty drunk the first time I watched that, I just about broke something laughing. Would love some Scorsese on UHD, though it would also be nice to get the rest of his catalogue on Blu Ray at least!

doubtful but Southland Tales UHD would be nice considering the new masters are 4K

Let's get started throwing some wild talking points out there. The Morgan Creek library. I'm not entirely sure what the arrangement is, but I don't think they'd invest in that just to throw a couple of rebranded and encoded HD Blu-rays out there.
It makes sense if they have a heavy mainstream focus on the UHD line this year, then swing into giving Prince Of Thieves more treatment than it deserves ( I love it, but self awareness). People are already complaining Pitch Black isn't bundled with the HD. Obviously keeping the price down, but I think it also gives a nice bit of seperation in these early days. |

Not sure how likely it is but on the Academy side I'v love to see Hard To Be a God get a UHD release, if its handled as well as The Elephant Man that could really be something. |
