Arrow Moonraker

I thought it was very good, seeing this definitely makes me want to see more James Bond films. I was thinking Brosnan and Connery were the only ones who could do James Bond, boy was I wrong.

Although there are number of people who did not like Roger Moore as 007, I got familiar with the franchise through him. Moonraker is an excellent Bond movie.

Roger Moore was the James Bond I remember from my youth as well. I remember going to the theater to see Live and Let Die. It was my first Bond flick.

Moonraker was the 1st Bond movie I saw at the theater. The 1st one I ever saw was Live and Let Die on TV so I came to know Bond through Roger Moore. Even though Connery is the best Bond I still enjoy Roger Moore.

There are those Bond purists who will doubtlessly say "If you liked THAT mess...", and that's partly true--
"Moonraker" unfairly gets stuck at the bottom of the lists for directly cashing in on the Roger Moore 007's new sudden mainstream/popcorn summer-of-Star-Wars popularity after "Spy Who Loved Me", and if you're just catching on to the Moores now, that's the essential Moore-canon to watch next.

(Of the existing Blu's, "Live and Let Die" is embarrassingly 70's-dated, "For Your Eyes Only" is good standard 007 that was trying to get back to 60's basics and "apologize" for Moonraker's kiddy-cartoon populism, and...still waiting for May to Netflix "Man w/Golden Gun"--
Of those that aren't, me, I always thought "Octopus-sy" was underrated in having the right mix of later Moores not always having to take themselves seriously, but "View to a Kill" was a geriatric call for retirement.)

I bought the Blu Sunday at Target as part of their sale cause I had always wanted to see this film I didn't know anything about the storyline except part of it takes place in outer space.

I was shocked in a good way of how the film progressed. Those shots ( I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it) but the shots before the Opening Credit sequence are so amazing looking in HD as well as the rest of the film.

Great transfer, Great locales, and fun script.

Moonraker was about the second Bond I saw in the theater growing up. It's a little cheesy in spots, but it has a lot of good qualities. It's the only one of the most recent wave that I've watched so far and I thought the PQ was very good. There are some very beautiful locales in Venice and Brazil in this movie. I've seen some reviews say that it almost killed the franchise, but that isn't right. Adjusted for inflation, it ranks in the top 10 box office for 007 films. I might have read too many reviews because I was lukewarm on buying it again on Blu-ray, but I'm glad I did.

Roger Moore is James Bond to me. Connery was good but his reputation is a little overrated at this point.

loved moonraker and can't wait for man with the golden gun. Next faves are the spy who loved me and diamonds are forever. I think I judge my bond films by their theme songs.

The best Moore film is definitely The Spy Who Loved Me. Jaws is actually menacing in that one. Hopefully it arrives sooner than later. I do like Moonraker as well. The Moore Bonds were the ones I watched when I was younger. Moonraker for $15 is an easy buy.

Ok, the best part of MOONRAKER is Manuela in Rio and Corrine in France (it was in Drax mansion which was suppose to be in California but actually France).

There's a lot wrong with Moonraker. The last 30 minutes in space. The hovercraft. The ridiculous romantic subplot with Jaws and the little blonde chick. The lifeless performance by Lois Chiles.

But there's also a lot to appreciate. The stuntwork in the opening sequence. The solid FX and set design. The terrific score by John Barry. The creepy murder of Corrine by the dogs. Michael Lonsdale's performance as Hugo Drax.

Overall I think it's Moore's 3rd best outing behind For Your Eyes Only and The Spy Who Loved Me. Of course that's also because the remaining four range from mediocre to downright bad. But I do believe that Moonraker gets a bad rap.

I consider MOONRAKER to be John Barry's last great score and his best post- On her Majesty's secret Service score. The set design is beautiful and so representative of Ken Adams contribution to the series.

I watched part of MR yesterday. I tell you the problem with Blu Ray. I always felt MR was the last Bond movie where Moore looked yuthful (started to look his age with FYEO), but in high def, I could definately see Moore showing his age.

It's funny you would say that cause that's how I felt about him in Moonraker, he did look youthful to me. I remember when I saw FYEO in the theaters and to me he looked much too old to hang with Carole Bouquet, by the time he did Octo***** and A View to a Kill, it was embarrasing.

And the revealing sunrise-on-the-space-station shot in 1080.
