Dolby Vision is a form of HDR.

This release has both HDR10 (base layer) and Dolby Vision.

Hoping my Target preorder doesn’t get delayed or backordered. Locked mine in at $76 before tax, which averages about under $13 per title. Can’t get that sort of deal buying them separately.

The fact that it’s in a box doesn’t bother me now that it’s confirmed we’re getting individual cases with slipcovers (which we can opt to use or not). More than happy to support Sony with the purchase of this collection now instead of down the road, since they’ve done a solid job of both getting the opinions of customers with their survey, as well as delivering with their packaging and apparently, the finished product judging by the rave reviews so far.

As for future collections, I’m loving the options thrown around lately.

The Social Network, It Happened One Night, Taxi Driver, and maybe Panic Room as extra incentive to purchase the whole set would sound amazing to me.

While they're at it, they better pull Se7en and that one movie about that Club which should've gotten a 4K UHD release last year to perfectly celebrate the 20th anniversary instead of a throwback trailer.

You see, I'm not a digital person. I haven't watched a film on my iPad digitally for 2 months if you count streaming. But when it comes to films that I BOUGHT, maybe around 3 years that I stopped watching them.

Basically my response: I don't need a new copy for a movie. A used copy is perfectly fine if it's cheaper than a new copy. I don't care if it's broken or missing digital copy because I don't watch digital, I'm going to buy the cheapest copy that has the 4K UHD disc in it. Plus, if it's missing Blu-ray, I already owned it

I could see them charging $25 for each film when and if they eventually do release them separately
Only if one wants all those movies. I don't really want to watch Ghandi again, and Dr. Strangelove isn't actually one of my favorite Kubrick movies, so I'm satisfied with the Criterion release. I've never seen Jerry McGuire or A League of Their Own. From those I have seen, Lawrence is the only truly great one, in my opinion.

true but if you sell the digital copies, the big outer box/booklet and the movies you don't want, i bet you could have Lawrence 4k for maybe $10 out of pocket when all is said and done

Boy, the review on here is beyond gushing. I am looking forward to seeing it myself....someday, once it becomes available separately.

Seems inconceivable that it won't get a standalone release. One of the most important and revered films of all time, and a likely strong seller - especially with reviews like this one. And the work is all done, so no further outlay there.

Well, I lost my mind and ordered the box. Love Strangelove, and Mr. Smith is a nice bonus. Ambivalent about the other three titles, though I'll watch them each at least once. Essentially I paid $100 for a 4k UHD of Lawrence. And I'm fine with that. Few movies are worth that, but this is one of them.

You can absolutely count on All of The Columbia titles in the set receiving an individual release, the question is when? My opinion it will be at least 6 months.
Sony does not want individual releases messing up sales numbers for the box set. Could be longer though!, depends. But the holidays 2020 seems likely.

Different studios Se7en was made by Newline Cinema. Fight Club by Fox, which is off course owned by Disney now, so I would not hold My breath!

Of course, with this being a reconstructed soundtrack to begin with from late 1980's ADR overdubs of the surviving cast and sound alikes for various missing pieces of dialog stems, it really depends on how the re-mixing engineers want to position these elements since the Atmos track is from scratch.

They're either adhering to roadshow practices of the day with various Atmos enhancements, or it's an entirely new sonic presentation.
Lawrence was recorded in four track. L C R FX

Original 70mm prints mixed L & C for position 2, and C & R for position 4.

Afaik, there was no 6-track recording gear in the UK until some time after 1968, as 2001 was also 4 track, with the final reel recorded in Culver City in 6 track.

No way I'm buying the silly big box full of movies I have no interest in . When LoA comes out as a single I'll buy it regardless of the price.

What if the price of the LoA standalone release is more than the box set?
