Watched it last night for the first time. I liked it a lot. Never even noticed the "quick cuts" that so many people are whining about.
I just realized this morning though that [Show spoiler] .Did I miss something? Felt like he was a forgotten character in the second half of the movie. LOL Last edited by Chordata; 04-01-2009 at 03:34 PM. |

Taken from imdb: "Filmed (but cut in the final release) is the infamous coda-ending (revealing the final fate of Mr. White), where Bond tracks down and discovers that Mr. White (who was missing earlier and assumed of eliminating Greene) was in league with Guy Haines. Haines was earlier spotted by Bond in Bregenz. He notifies M, went in and had a scuffle with White before he introduces himself to Haines. The gun-barrel sequence seen was originally intended to come in place just as Bond eliminates White for good. Part of the ending can also be seen in the video game tie-in."

A blind buy for me, and are very happy with this movie. The cut are a bit fast, I wish they would include maybe about 1-2sec before each cut to another frame during the fight, that way, we can see a bit more of what is going on, rather than fill in the blank and make assumption.
PQ and SQ are fantastic! |

Finally got to see this on Blu-ray last night. I really wonder why I ever bother going to a theatre any more. Watching this in my home theatre was 20x better. The PQ was very good (and much better than the crappy screen I saw it on) and the sound was off the charts.
I really liked this movie the 2nd time around a lot more than the 1st in the theatre. The vastly superiour AV presentation likely helped in that regard. |

In case anybody was in any doubt, there WILL be a deluxe edition of Quantum Of Solace... in fact it's already being prepared!

Indeed, I caught that earlier - As a Bond fan, I was very tempted to grab the first release, but I figured a double-dip would be announced sooner rather than later given Marc Forster's recent interviews and whatnot.
The film itself is alright, middle-of-the-road in terms of the rest of the series. But I will say this - The quick cutting and frantic editing that bothered me in theaters is much more tolerable on the small screen. |

I finally watched QoS for the first time tonight. I liked it. Awesome PQ/AQ. It definitely did not feel the older Bond films, but I didn't mind that. I really enjoyed the second half of the movie. I feel like this movie will get better with every viewing.

Thank god for that, that's one thing I hate about the oscars, its not about creating a list of the best performances, its stating that one was the best and therfore better then the others nominated.

THe biggest complaint I have heard from various people (and I have heard from ALOT of people as I am a regular poster on Commanderbond.net, and a well known Bond fanatic) is the frantic pacing and editing. I liked the movie but I agree with the frantic editing.
MOST people I have talked to also felt the movie got better with a second viewing, and I agree. I liked it much better the second time I saw it. |

Although I did enjoy Casino Royale more, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed Quantum of Solace when I watched it for the first time last night. I'm really liking the direction they are taking with the new Bond. Daniel Craig did an excellent job with both films. It's now a toss-up for me on who I lke best, Connery or Craig.
Iirc, wasn't this the same kind of character development direction, portraying more of the assassin aspect, that the studio was trying to move towards initially with Timothy Dalton? For whatever reason, he seems to be the least well-liked of all the Bond actors, but personally I preferred his films to most, if not all of the Roger Moore films. Daniel Craig has the killer aspect down cold though. |
