While there are positives for community activism, there are also consequences.
Louisville, KY has a population of 624,890; companies like Google wouldn't even consider coming to a rural region like mine where the largest town for 100 miles in any direction is just 24,730. My entire county doesn't even have a population one tenth as large as that of Louisville, KY.

Our used BD/DVD store finally opened today! On the way, in the car, I told my son I would really like to replace my Expendables (1-3) DVDs with BDs. Hope I find them.

We get to the store and I am looking at BD box sets when my son comes over to me. In his hand is a BD case with all three Expendables movies (each on a separate BD disc).

Yippee!

I have owned those for some time, but I have yet to watch any of them. I have to be in a certain mindset in order to watch most Sylvester Stallone movies.

Pulling Gone with the Wind From HBO Max was a no brainer.

I agree... no one involved seems to have a brain.

It also seems to follow that later units offer more hard drive storage, better game bundles, and generally more oom pah pah than with the first batch. I'll wait for the dust to settle and see what shakes out.
That was years ago, the PS4 was solid as a rock. I see your point but consoles are just getting better and more reliable.

Buy yeah, I’m waiting a year as well!

‘Gone With the Wind’ Discs Top Amazon’s Best-Seller List, Fetch Big Prices

Quote:
In the wake of HBO Max pulling the film from its streaming service, Gone With the Wind has become the hottest title of the home video aftermarket.

By midday Friday, June 12, Gone With the Wind discs occupied the top four spots of Amazon’s list of best-sellers in the movies and TV category, as well as the No. 12 spot.

All of the copies are not offered directly from Amazon, but from third-party sellers using Amazon’s Marketplace service. Indeed, used and new DVD and Blu-ray copies of the film have been popping up on eBay in the $60 to $70 range, particularly a special Walmart re-release of the 70th anniversary edition in a new slipcover (which had an in-store price of $5 for the DVD and $7.50 for the Blu-ray). Used VHS copies of the film can be had for around five to 10 bucks.

The 1939 film made headlines this week when it was removed from HBO Max amid global anti-racism protests, after 12 Years a Slave screenwriter John Ridley criticized the film for romanticizing the pro-slave Confederacy and suggested temporarily removing it. HBO Max announced the film would return at some point accompanied by disclaimers and programming to put the film in its proper historical context.

It it proves yet again that disc is the way to go. No knee jerks are taking my films off me, not on my watch.

For those interested, Target is running their Buy 2 Get 1 free in movies starting tomorrow. Amazon usually matches this as well, or at least they have in the past.

Yes I bet most of you Film Lovers never watched this Movie all the way through. I think this is the Greatest Movie, and I have watched it in the Theater, on DVD, BD, and Streaming. This last time I watched it off my IPTV Server, because I like to watch some of the TCM Channel.

You would lose that bet with me.

I saw this movie in film class, a college course that ignited my passion for cinema, and I have owned, and viewed, it on every format since laserdisc. I hope it will get a 4K disc release soon.

I am finally finishing up the last of my many Civil War documentaries and I think I should watch this movie again as it would make for an interesting study.

as to your points
The specs: Sony released the PS5 specs months ago so no need to rehash them, here they are if it was meant as sincere interest on your part

CPU: 8x Zen 2 Cores at 3.5GHz (variable frequency)
GPU: 10.28TFLOPs, 36 CUs at 2.23GHz (variable frequency)
GPU Architecture: Custom RDNA 2
Memory/Interface: 16GB GDDR6CPU: 8x Zen 2 Cores at 3.5GHz (variable frequency)
GPU: 10.28TFLOPs, 36 CUs at 2.23GHz (variable frequency)
GPU Architecture: Custom RDNA 2
Memory/Interface: 16GB GDDR6 / 256=bit
Memory Bandwidth: 448GB/s
Internal Storage: Custom 825GB SSD
IO Throughput: 5.5GB/s (Raw), Typical 8-9GB/s (compressed)
Expandable Storage: NVMe SSD Slot
External Storage: USB HDD Support
Optical Drive: 4K UHD Blu-Ray Drive

The price: it looks like Sony and MS are playing a game of chicken to see who will blink first with a price

The date: Sony said end of this year. Honestly with everything going on this year I can understand why neither MS nor Sony are willing to say when, where and how many will be available yet. Consoles are complex devices and what happens if the plant making a critical part ends up shutting down for a few days?

There are "towns" in my county with less than 100 people. My county has a population of just 56,470. You have no concept of what rural even means.

All you have done is to repeat the same senseless options that you always do. People are not going to move away from their families, friends, homes, farms, and jobs just so that they can stream in HD or 4K.

In my village of 1600 people the village board members earn $60 a month for their part time public service; they have full time jobs that prevent them from spending their public service efforts on anything but the most important matters. It is all that my village board members can do to find the time to address serious problems like, say, a pandemic and record unemployment. Streaming issues are pretty far down on their list of priorities.

Many people in rural areas do not live in cities or towns or even villages; thus the term "rural." There are no city councils to lobby and no community centers in which to gather. Many of these people live miles from their nearest neighbor. Your advice, as usual, is completely clueless.

Exactly. The first house my dad bought was in the rural part of a village that today has 600 people and back then a lot less. He was a professor at a University and because he could avoid traffic it was a bit over an hour commute to the university in Montreal. I was born there and spent my first few years there, later he bought a place in suburbia closer to Montreal but he still kept the place and we used to spend every summer there. It meant dirt road, telephone party line (that is when several homes share a telephone line and distinctive ringing tells you what house it is for) and 20 minute walk to the nearest neighbor. It is nice to say that people should ask and demand high speed but someone needs to pay to install and maintain all that infrastructure.

Hey Vilya and Wendell. I know you guys were inquiring about my Trinnov quest, so I figured I would share an update. During the debate of Trinnov vs Storm Audio, I kept getting hung up on how both of them calibrate subs in that each sub needs a dedicated output from the processor. The way my main subs work, they share an output and then the the one powers and controls the other one in the opposite front corner...which would cause the processors issues. So I started going down that rabbit hole of replacing my 4 yr old subs in anticipation of eventually picking up one of the two processors.

I think I may have just about lost any grip on reality I might have had and ordered a six pack of REL 1508 Predator subs. Pretty bad when an electrician needs to come out and install more outlets on a dedicated line to handle 6 new subs. Looking down the road, whatever processor I go with will see each stack as a single sub with 3 large drivers.

This will be interesting.
