Oh, I love most genres too. Except musicals.
I just think it's really hard to make a good horror movie.
It's probably over 20 years since I've seen the original Halloween.
Maybe I should give it another shot.
The Thing, for me, is Carpenter's best film.
The tension building in that movie is just extraordinary.

The Thing is great indeed, although Halloween still wins out for me.

As you can see from my top 20 list, The Wicker Man is also amongst my absolute favourites.

Musicals? The Sound Of Music is my favourite but I have soft spots for Dirty Dancing and Grease. Not many guys confess to loving Dirty Dancing but I’m being brave!

Believe it or not, I've never seen The Wicker Man. That's going on my to watch list now.

And I do like music biopics like The Doors or Bohemian Rhapsody. Those are great.
But true musicals where people start singing and dancing in the street for no reason at all. No, just no.
I've been on the fence to watch La La Land but so far I still haven't.

That is very brave. I really liked Dirty Dancing when it was released but the shine has worn off for me on repeat viewings. But I will forever be grateful to that movie for one of the worst lines in cinematic history (you all know the one).

I love musicals and am not ashamed to say it.

The Wicker man is a must see, just avoid that dreadful remake sir!

Does it include the words ‘Baby’ and ‘corner’, Ender?

I also like all Movies, even RomComs, but Musicals are good too depending on the Movie. Don't tease us, I love lines in Movies which one in Dirty Dancing "Nobody puts Baby in a Corner?".

It does indeed. A line that rings in the cinematic halls of infamy.

If you have access to Netflix and enjoyed Dirty Dancing you should watch the episode dedicated to it's making:

Not as bad as Four Weddings And A Funeral. “Is it raining?” I hadn’t noticed.”

Always had a soft spot for DD because of the location of the principal photography, namely Lake Lure, NC and Mountain Lake, VA. As the crow flies Lake Lure is 21 miles form my house. Made it a point to visit Mountain Lake about 5 years ago, interesting, secluded place. Lake Lure is only a couple of miles from Chimney Rock Park where a lot of the principal photography was done for Michael Mann's movie Last of the Mohicans.

I'm not a great fan of the film itself to tell you the truth, but it does remind me of the time when a girl I was going out with back then wanted to see it. I would have been about 21 years old at the time, and we both saw it together - so it does have nostalgic value for me. Oh boy, what I'd give to be able to go back in time and relive my younger years again.

I watched some Game of Thrones on 4k UHD BD and thought it was spectacular.

Was this ever available in 4K before ? ... I know HBO still doesn't have 4K on the HBO Max thingie.

Only seasons 1 and 8 are offered on 4K disc at present frustrating many of the show's fans.

The summer of 1969 I was living and working at Grossinger's Hotel in Liberty, NY in the Catskills. We had moved there in November 1968 after leaving Forest Hills, NY. My mom was Director of Convention Sales and I held a myriad of part time/full time jobs which included Bar Waiter, Lifeguard, Car Hop, Bus Driver, Dining Room Waiter, Personal Chauffeur to Paul Grossinger. I got my drivers license in May of 1969 and my first car: 1964 Impala SS convertible.

All my friends worked at the hotel. On the weekends we would go to other hotels in the area like The Concord, Kutchers and The Pines to hang out. Each had a night club where drinking and dancing were held (different from the large stage rooms where the weekend shows were held).

There were no staff only dance rooms as depicted in the movie simply because they didn't exist. You got dressed up and went to the night club.

It was a fantastic time for me. Had tons of money from all the tips I received and most of all a new crop of city girls every weekend who desperately wanted to mingle with the staff.

Both season one and eight needed 4K UHD to improve the image quality.

Quote:
They used digital tape for Season 1 (HDCAM-SR), but switched to tapeless recorders and solid state SxS secondary storage for Season 2. The Alexa is a highly regarded Digital Cinema camera, and GoT was HBO's first hour-long series shot entirely on digital
Where as season eight the first 4 episodes were incredibly dark.
