As they are both closed systems a developer can really do some cool things to make sure it runs perfect. Once the image is approved it takes 30-60 days to press and mass manufacture the versions.
So a 12+ month time frame for a PS5/XSX native release is probably reasonable if they are working on DLC for the game at the same time as bug squashing.

People need to get over the graphics comparison between these two consoles. The games on BOTH systems are going to look incredible. I cannot wait for the DF videos to start coming out to show fanboys just how similar multiconsole games look running on PS5/XSX.

I mean, there's not going to be much difference than current gen between 1X and PS4 Pro. So it's more of an objective breakdown of how the image is presented and sometimes how the consoles are approached differently based on their specs. For a tech nerd, it can be interesting but if you're the type of fanboy who literally looks for anything, then you will find it no matter how mundane it could be.

Personally i like their scrutiny of the graphical image and fidelity in motion and show whether it has been optimised well or not and kinda hold devs to account for shoddy work. The future though will hopefully allow us to keep forwards compatibility for future hardware and BC too.

I'll definitely wait for the PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077. The game looks too ambitious for the PS4 to be able to handle the details of the city and crowds and frame rate at the same time.

But that's why you'd have a patch optimised for PS5 bud, and also a free upgrade to the actual PS5 release when it comes out.

I want to play on PS5 simply for the faster loading and the lack of jet engine noise.

The game always looked too ambitious for the ps4, The Witcher 3 was pushing the system to its limit

"I can confirm this is not the final update," CD Projekt exec Michał Nowakowski said. "At some point we will have a more robust update for next-gen which we plan to give free of charge to anyone who purchases the PS4 or Xbox One version... When questioned on the timing of the "proper" next-gen version, CD Projekt could not confirm it would arrive in 2021.

With yesterday's delay of Cyberpunk 2077 until 19th November, CD Projekt unsurprsingly acknowledged that the game's unannounced single-player expansions and mysterious multiplayer portion would also shuffle back."

Based on that, and him saying he can't confirm the PS5 version of the game will arrive in 2021 or not, he is hinting that it will be available in 2021, but that wisely they're giving the release time to earn PS4 gamers to purchase it now for PS4. Rather than announcing that it'll be available for PS5 in 2021. That would be like sabotaging their potential sales on PS4.

Plus there will be other PS5 games made for PS5 that I'll focus on for the launch window of PS5, so I'll be able to wait patiently for the PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077. Looking forward to the game though. The motorcycle portions look cool too, and you can actually see your character on the bike.

That does sound like a good deal. Even so, I want to experience the game on the PS5 with the game's full potential graphically on PS5 for the first time. If I buy it for the PS4, I guess it would be a good way to compare the differences firsthand.

Yes, good point about the faster loading. I can't wait to experience that. It could be as revolutionary as the Rest mode on PS4. Cerny hinted that the loading will be so fast on a PS5 that rest mode might not even be necessary.

I'll predict the PS5 version of the game Cyberpunk 2077 (not the PS4 update), will be available by June 2021.

Dying and fast travel were annoying in the Witcher because of the loading

It's officially a no-brainer now. Do it. Day one for me.

Which fingers crossed will be near instant when played on a PS5 even from a PS4 version. Kind of like how they showed off the loading times of the Spider-Man game to show the difference.

In fact, offering a PS4 game an extra patch to PS5 level of performance for free, not just running it at the same level for PS4 Pro is great and THEN on top of that, a FREE upgrade to an actual PS5 version when it's ready. That's a bloody amazing consumer friendly company if you ask me. Especially since they as a 3rd party could have pulled R* on you and expect you to double/triple dip as they appear to be ready to do on GTA V for PS5.
The game has been delayed twice (and thus gone over budget) from it's original release date in mid-April this year. The fact that CDPR are only willing to make a incremental upgrade to the game for PS5/X2 owners suggests they have their plate full dealing with getting a finished version of the present-gen release out the door on time. The Day One upgrade is just means of securing sales from those that have bought a PS5.

I dunno about that, because if they wanted they could say they'll buy the PS4 version and play it as is and we'll release a PS5 later for double dipping. Instead they're optimising it further for PS5 on release AND also giving a free future PS5 copy to you. Can't say fairer than that imo. Love them being so consumer friendly.

That is generous, agreed. For them to offer a free PS5 version of the game and not just the PS4 update on PS5. Rockstar's GTAV on PS4 I got from a store for $29.99 or 39.99 when I traded in the PS3 GTAV. I felt that was a good deal, but this would be a great deal.

The main reason I'll hold off most likely from the PS4 Cyberpunk 2077 this November 2020, is because I rather buy a PS5 specific game with that 59.99 since November is going to be the release of the PS5 console if all goes to plan. I don't want to invest hundreds of hours into a PS4 version of the game on my new PS5. I want to experience it for the first time as a PS5 specific game with all the effects and power of a PS5 developed game.

There's no way I'll feel as invested in the game (if having played the PS4 version) many months later when the PS5 version is finally available. And how are they doing the upgrade, is it a digital version of the game? That would be the cheapest route for them versus a disc version.

Nobody really knows at the moment but a specific PS5 release may end up not releasing until 2022 tbh. Personally i was waiting to play Cyberpunk 2077 as it would have been even on a PS4 version but with PS5 level visuals. They're basically trying to give us that with a PS5 optimised patch then i get another upgrade to a PS5 specific version like a year later. By that time, i've probably "forgot" enough or may want to run through the game again making different choices. I think that's why you'll end up with so much replay on this game even if yu start on the current version they release first when using a PS5.

Guess will have to wait till launch before Expansion DLC is sold.

I’m guessing $30-40 US.

Good news & no surprise CDPR is consumer friendly & vocal about it.

They gave away a lot of cosmetic DLCs and then released a proper expansion for Witcher 3. I trust the studio a LOT because of that and everything they've said about this so far is music to my ears too.

Just looking to watch this now and hoping to really see more of the activities you can hopefully get up to and maybe even more customisation options. It's a shame it was delayed but the next gen consoles is what i planned to play on so it works out too.
