Seven Pounds

I don't get the naysayers...this movie has to be watched...saw it in theaters and it was really stirring and moving.

Im going to buck the trend here and say that I didnt think that much of it.

Its not that the idea of the movie was bad but they focused for me far too much on Rosario Dawsons character turning its almost into a bittersweet love story which I dont think was the intention at all. There were 6 others characters his decision effected and I think they should have at least fleshed out 1 or 2 more.

I'll go ahead and buck the trend and say I thought this movie was horrible. I understand the idea the director was trying to pull off, but he failed. Up until the last 20 minutes of the film, the story was completely fractured and there was no plot what-so-ever. The method the director tried to pull only can be successful if you have some story to keep the viewers interested until you reveal the final connection.

The whole movie, I kept looking at the clock and thinking, "What the hell is the point?" It didn't take me long to figure out what was going on, but with no help from the story. Way too slow and fractured to be of any entertainment value.

I thought this movie was just horrible. Saw it in the theater and i def. wont be watching again.. The ending just made me laugh as its just impossible.

This is quite unusual for Sony these days as they havent really been locking stuff for a year or so. Hopefully its not a reversal in trend

I really liked this movie when I saw it in the theaters; however, this is not a movie that holds up to multiple viewings for me.

So even though it was a well made movie I don't think I will be purchasing this on blu.

I think that was the point, he wasn't supposed to fall in love with her which threw him out of the loop. And the audience goes along for the ride.

I liked it, but Pursuit of Happyness was a much superior movie. This one just didn't seemed to be planned out very well.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I just could not figure it out or missed it in the movie: What does the title Seven Pounds refer to? I know Seven people, Seven days to create the world, Seven seconds to destroy his world, but why Seven Pounds?

I rented it for 1 night and watched it and thought it was actually an excellent movie. I went out and bought it the next day so my parents could watch it. I had read the review on this sight, and thought it spoiled the movie for me, but all though i don't agree with the review at all, I thought the story was original and very interesting.

To sum up:

We can't really talk about the plot because it will ruin the movie.

Some love it; others hate it.

It reminds me somewhat of the reaction to There Will Be Blood. If you like slow-moving emotional dramas with good acting, and don't mind not having a character to root for, you might well love this movie. If you need a fast-paced movie or a lot of action, it's probably better to skip it.

But my advice would be judge for yourself and avoid the reviews if you can.

I watched this movie tonight on BD for the first time. Wow! What a powerful movie that is extremely well acted. The best blind-buy I have made on BD to date. Highly recommended. Excellent PQ as well.
