We could potentially be looking at a 2 month delay for this set. Because the new wonder woman movie just got delayed to October. And you know how these companies are about tie ins. Id be extremely surprised, if they don't announce a delay for the set this coming week.

I ordered this as soon as it became available. I fondly remember watching the series as a teen. I don't believe I've missed any episodes.
After 3 months on lockdown, I've barely made a dent in my existing movie collection. There's just too much else for me to watch, read, and do at home. It never seems as if there's enough time in the day. The set has 50 hours of content. I can't see that I'll ever get around to watching, and even if I do, that's 50 hours less that I'd have time for other things. I'm sadly going to cancel my preorder. |

Has anyone heard whether the release of the WW TV series on Blu is being delayed to coincide with the WW'84 theatrical premiere? Amazon is still (fortunately) showing a July 28th release date but curious if anyone's heard differently.
I'm continuing to watch the HD versions streaming on iTunes (updated to 4:3) in the meantime. |

Nothing's been said. I doubt that the date will change. If nothing else, keeping the 7/28 date will just get people charged up with anticipation for the film. Also, the film had originally been planned (well after two previous "original" plans) for a June 5th release, so the TV series release wouldn't have been that close to the film's in any case. Two months apart in any event, but now it's just that the TV series is coming out before the film rather than after.

So I noticed they updated the stream on iTunes and Amazon.
Still hoping it's got a different color timing on the blu-ray. Just to compare, here's one of the most egregious example of the new color timing in my opinion. On top is the old 16:9 version (colors the same as on the DVD). Bottom is the updated 4:3 one on all streaming services (and possibly the one on the blu-ray). ![]() Now, to be fair, it's usually not as bad as this most of the time, but I do think the yellows/oranges and greens are way too vibrant and the black levels are usually too dark. People's skin usually has a lot of yellow. At the same time the whites get toned down to blueish sometimes. Anyway, here's another example from Season 3 which I don't mind much and some people may think looks better. You can see the black levels that I was talking about. ![]() There are episodes from Season 1 where I think the new color timing looks better (because they were originally too brownish/lifeless). The pilot looks worse IMO though. And sometimes there's barely any difference. Anyway, I still hope there's an improvement on that. Sometimes it does look better with more vibrant colors, but somtimes I feel it's WAY too vibrant, a lot more than Batman '66 and I think it ruins the image. |

Yeah, i see that there's a difference in both versions when it comes to the quality of the color timing. I think the first comparison looks better on the top image while the second i think the second image is the better one. I hope that this is fixed too. I'm still gonna get it though.

I don't want to alarm anyone because from what I have seen most people are fine with it (and sometimes I just find it strange because I'm used to the old one), and like I said it's not too bad most of the time. But there are some clear missteps in some episodes/scenes.
EDIT: Here's a couple more random comparison from the first episode of the second season that I hadn't seen from the 4:3 HD version yet, because they have the old version on DC Universe for some reason. As you can see the first one looks a lot more different than the second one, and you can see the difference on the white levels. ![]() ![]() Last edited by VonterVoman; 07-11-2020 at 08:55 PM. |
