this way everyone gets one , and the movie label can make a whole lot of extra money
Or they can keep it in print for as long as they can. Only scalpers would want something to go OOP.

Agreed. While I certainly understand the appeal of having something limited and collectible, when it comes to movies and physical media in general, I'd much rather that we sell as many copy's as possible if only for no other reason than so that I don't have to worry about finding an affordable copy later on down the line should my copy somehow become damaged.

Hahaha, I guarantee there are some Walmart type shoppers out there that would think that. In fact, they would probably think "shoot, I got the complete DVD set for $15, y'all got ripped off".

Really? I never heard about that. I know there are two versions of it, the theatrical and a TV cut. Would be nice if the new disc included both but I doubt it.

That's a rather dubious claim at best unless you can provide a verifiable source. Considering there's little or nothing in the film to justify editing it for content, I'm confident that the version of the film included on the Halloween II blu-ray (as a bonus feature) is intact, so unless Scream is providing us with an A/V upgrade, there really isn't any reason for a double-dip IMO.

It could be someone thinking because "Dawn of the Dead" was listed in the original end credits, or something like that, but any clips of that film were never included in the actual theatrical release or the VHS. Because DOTD was unrated, they most likely couldn't include any of that in their R-rated theatrical release and cut any scenes from it prior to TITA coming out. I remember seeing it in the theater and seeing DOTD listed at the end and knew immediately no scenes from DOTD were ever included.

The version of TITA on the H2 blu was the uncut theatrical version. End of story.

There was a TV version with alternate scenes, and other films/clips to fill it out, and that would be a great extra. But as far as the original cut of TITA, it's already out there.

I have it on the Halloween II blu and after watching it again recently, I realise now just how very dated it is, both in how it's presented, and especially in that there's been so many films made of the type featured ever since this came out. Very much of its time.

Well either way, it wouldn't be a double dip for me anyways, since i don't own that version of Halloween II. I'd rather much wait for a decent sale price on the new blu ray (maybe $13 or so) and get it that way, than pay another $6-7 bucks for yet another copy of Halloween II (As much as i love that movie and the whole franchise)

not a scalper and not going to sell my copy, I just like limited copies which are actually limited, that's all
Timed limited editions could be the way to go for limited editions from now on. Make them available until they are released and then don't make more. This way every collector gets one who wants one and it's still limited. This way the label can still make money and it's a win win for everyone

But why does it matter if its limited or not? It being limited doesnt benefit anyone except...you guessed it, scalpers. A set this popular shouldnt be limited, it should be available for as long as it keeps selling.

Except it's not a win win for everyone. Like i've said before, not everyone has been collecting blu rays since day 1. For all you know someone could start collecting physical media starting tomorrow or next week...etc. And not everyone is rich enough to buy every release as soon as it's announced.

Stop only thinking about yourself. It ain't going to kill you if everyone else has a piece of pie.

Their original announcement has not been adjusted, and still states "Only 13,000 units of the set are being made." Until they state otherwise, I would assume that to still be the case, regardless of the omission on their website.

As this is a multi-studio release, I suspect that "13,000" number is contractual, not arbitrary, and is likely to require additional negotiations and contracts with Warner Bros. and Paramount before the production run for the set, itself, can be officially increased. I suspect they will seek that increase, but I would not make any assumptions about this release not being limited.

That doesn't make any sense, most sales aren't through preorders, people.like to buy stuff that is available now, any company would be stupid to miss out on all the sales that occur when the product is in stock.

I am not,
Its great that more people are ordering it, don't get me wrong, but shout should have been upfront about this from the get go, aka in their press release on the pre-order page, not list how many copies the set was limited to and just say from the get go, the lithos were limited to 7000.
It's just the way they handled it from the start was wrong.
If they never would have said it was limited, i still would have ordered it since i want it day 1 for my collection and been totally cool with it not being limited.

The way this box set is making noise and selling, makes me think a NOES box set is more likely to get done now, more than ever. Surely Warner must be watching.

But you clearly are being selfish. And it's been said multiple times that SF didn't expect it to sell so quickly, so they upped the amount to 7,000 posters. Posters are a lot easier to make more of than a whole box set. And even if they did decide to make more than 13,000 box sets, it should not matter to you or anyone else who already ordered one. just be glad it's getting made at all.

You just want it to be limited so you can show off how you have a "limited" box set that is sold out, and how "cool you are". I can assure you, no one will give a damn. We're not 12 years old anymore....

Is it time to start with the conspiracy theories that the reason we're not getting a newly pressed FvJ disc is because Scream's holding off on doing so for their Elm Street set?

I have a feeling many people will have this on their Christmas list, with a mid-October release, Shout! has got to be thinking about that.

I always thought a NOES box set would come out from Sf before a F13th one did, just because of the fact that Warner owns all the movies in that franchise and SF wouldn't have to make a deal with 2 different studios (like with F13), But since nothing has come of a NOES, i'm beginning to think that it's due to Warner being more protective of their franchise than they are of the 3 F13 movies they own.

I really think that if this box set does well for them, that Warner will be more willing to let them do a NOES boxset.
