I'm sure it is a fraud protection going on with BN. It is up to the company to decide how stringent they want to be with international credit card use/verification, which is why you might place an order with one company and it works just fine, and it won't on another. In this day and age with rampant credit card fraud, some companies are just choosing to be very strict about what goes through and what doesn't. I would suspect if you could use PayPal, it would go through just fine, since in that case, PayPal is taking all the risk and BN is not.

October titles were briefly posted, then removed. Links to individual pages weren’t working. But I remember Pierre Le Fou, The Gunslinger, Parasite were among them. Five titles in total. But this old mans brain doesn’t keep things for long.

Yeah, I feel bad for S1. I'm sure it will do fine for them, but it's going to lose the business stateside (like myself who will certainly opt for the domestic CC release) that it would have gotten if not for this announcement.

ridiculous. We've waited all year long for this. So now it's not coming in November, probably specifically because it will be a 2 disc set with the length and bonus features, and so we can't buy it during a sale.

Why would you feel bad? S1 release is for a different country/market. ViaVision and CC put out different version of War of the Worlds at nearly the same time, because that's how it works when a new master is created and licensed to different markets.

I love the Hit. I've been waiting a longgggg time for this one. One of my favorite John Hurt and Terrence Stamp performances.

[Show spoiler]where Terrence Stamp dies is such a real moment. Even though he knows he's going to die eventually, he's cool and collected. However, the moment he realizes it's about to happen at that particular moment he becomes a panicked bug and the look of disgust on John Hurt's face is priceless.

Yes, but despite them being different territories, a lot of the companies know that portion of the sales will be from international buyers; and I guess because S1 is a struggling boutique label that just finally is returning after over a year of absence, I was hoping that their release of this would be a good seller and help their company thrive.

I'm sure plenty of UK buyers will even import the CC.

And I probably should have said "sucks for S1" as opposed to that I feel bad for them.

(1) The recent announcements are for October. So, it could still be coming in November.

(2) Criterion almost always releases at least one box set during the B&N sales month, so your theory about why The Irishman wouldn't be coming out in November doesn't hold water.
