The scene seems to take place at night. Can someone with the disc let me know if:
1. The pilot has THE NEW, ORIGINAL WONDER WOMAN title screen...or just WONDER WOMAN. 2. The Douglas Cramer closing logo is there. 3. The Saul Bass WBTV closing logo is there. |

It doesn't really seem that way. I mean, the blue tint does make it seem like night time, but it cuts from a daylight scene at 2:35pm in Washington, DC and then after the scene posted it cuts to a night scene in Germany (where it would be night due to time zones, +5 hours), then cuts back to Paradise Island during the day with the title card "a few moments later". There is an old clock on the wall that seems to indicate it's 5:30pm, but would it be that "dark" in a tropical island? Not to mention there's no torches lit up inside. The previous remaster didn't make it look like a day for night scene at all.
There are also other scenes that get a blue tint out of nowhere during the new remaster, in clear daylight. And there are other scenes that are day for night over which they didn't "add" any blue tint over it ![]() There are some episodes where even the white from the animated intro "comic book pages" looks blue, and some where it looks pink (and they looked white previously. Anyway I'm nagging too much. I don't have the discs but based on the iTunes web version the pilot doesn't have "The New, Original Wonder Woman" title, but the episodes have the Saul Bass WBTV logo. But I'll leave that to someone who has the discs to confirm. |

I agree and I hate when this happens. But how much of the series is affected like this? All the shots I'm seeing are pretty colorful. Is this just a single shot with this kind of coloring?

I believe that previous releases were taken from IPs, and this release was taken from the masters. There was probably a lot of fading going on with the elements. They aren't going to have the same exact color values. I would have to see the shows to see if they are correct. The opening titles had various amounts of fading, even when the show was new. They reused the same footage so much.

All in all, there's no real consistency to the changes. Sometimes the white is toned down and sometimes it's way brighter. Sometimes there's a lot more contrast and sometimes a lot less. Sometimes the greens look the same and sometimes they are blindingly vibrant. I have watched a few episodes of Batman '66 and haven't noticed such dramatic changes to the image as Wonder Woman often has, except more vibrance and black levels a little darker. Here are more comparison screencaps from the pilot episode. The last one I think has been improved, and looks like the treatment they gave Batman '66. The changes are a wildcard. [Show spoiler]

I don't think it'll be a problem if you haven't watched the DVDs a few times to know what it could look like, and like I said some episodes look very normal (the second one already looks a lot better), the War Department scenes in general look better, but still... all that's left for me now is to hope for a better 4K release in 20 years (if ever)

This reminds me of the 4K remaster of Batman '89 that I saw on iTunes. The colours on that release were way too strong and the blue tint was annoying as ****. |

[Show spoiler] I think on average the episodes look more like the 3rd and 4th pictures. If anyone is interested in taking a look at the average random scene, if you have the iTunes software you could search for the show and play the 30 second previews for all the episodes. It could help. |

When you have two pictures side by side, the difference is more apparent. I don't have a problem with it. But, I will watch the entire thing before I decide.

I have been watching it on DC Universe every week and it doesn't bother me much most of the time. Maybe I overreacted a little the very first time I saw the pilot episode on it (back in 2018) because those Paradise Island scenes really did look very different, and it rubbed me the wrong way.
DNR aside, the film dust and scratches being removed and the stock footage all cleaned up and enhanced can kinda make up for the color changes. I still wish they had worked with more care to prevent those mishaps. Sometimes it looks like they ran an algorithm to calculate the average colors or something and just went with it for all the scenes. |

Here is a comparison of the Blu-ray vs a high quality HDTV recording vs the DVD. They are all overlaid and aligned so you can see the cropping differences.
