Here is another mention from March http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/15570
As I reflect back on the book I could potentially see this split up into 2 movies, but not 3.

I can see them split the first one with the background of the characters (like in the book). Then the second movie with dealing with the creature going back to their hometown.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't read the book in like 10 years. I just couldn't see it being split into 3 parts.

Oh I was just being a smart ass, I figured they'd just want a franchise anyway they could get it, as far as planned now it's a stand alone remake

Clowns don't creep me out, they disgust me entirely. Everytime I see one, I just wanna punch one in the nose. "No more laughing now clown!"

Thumbs up Great!

The tv movie was really good. And I can't see another actor play Pennywise other than Tim Curry. But it did miss quite a bit of the vibrant horror that the book had in it. But that's what you get with tv. Plus the end was the biggest diappiontment, MAYBE they can do a better job, let's hope anyway they don't totally F#&* it up.

As Fox Mulder once said, "I want to believe." Hopefully this project is done with class and I for one can't imagine doing service to the book with a PG-13 rating. Then again, the miniseries was pretty good.

Well I'm not too sure if anyone but Tim Curry could play this role.

The TV movie had the same craptacular ending that the book did. I was disappointed that they didn't change the ending of the book.

I shudder to think who might direct this.

I'm sure anyone but Uwe Bowe or Rob Zombie would do a very good job.

The only reason why I say Rob Zombie is due to him probably ignoring the majority of the story and purely focusing on the violence/blood of the story. The book was scarey not being of the violence/blood, but due to the fact of not knowing if Pennywise was about to attack or not. He was basically this unknown/powerful force that couldn't be stopped and knew your darkest secret of what scared you.

It wasn't about him chopping off heads and leaving pools of blood, but it was more of the unexpected and knowing that it would be what the character feared most.

Yes I'm sorry you are correct. I guess what I was thinking about was when I read the book, I imagined something quite different. That's the problem of turning a book into a movie, out goes the thought process.

It was one of the rare occasions where the movie ended just like the book. Remember how different the ending of Apt Pupil was from the movie, lol. Talk about drastic changes!

Movie: A pan out shot of Todd in his driveway with a basketball

Book: Todd goes up on an overpass and begins to snipe people in cars going by, until the police kill him.

In the movie he essentially gets away with everything.

I think that this book inspired the Indy IV ending.

Also the movie did an absolutely horrid job explaining the ending, while the book actually had time to explain things, but still was over the top.

I loved the book bought the hardback when it first came out. I loved the choices of actors in the tv movie but their performances was pretty wooden I thought. overall i liked the scenes when they were children but as adults it just didnt seem convincing to me.
same way with the stand great actors chosen but mediocre acting performances from great actors.

That was the beauty of it! It didn't go over the top with making it scary.

Just take a look at these scary clowns:

Well the miniseries was just over 3 hours, so a 2 1/2 hour film could be decent, it just depends who they get to play Pennywise.
