That's interesting to know, theres not much info on the Jaws sequels past 2. I did watch a making-of on youtube a bit back. in the comments for it there was what appeared to be a few knowledgeable people that knew a lot more about what was deleted but the making of its self didn't really reveal much beyond the usual blabber. Apparently there was an octopus cut from it during the opening credits that had a name, i forget what now. Anyway like i said it would be interesting to see in a completed form but it would be preferable to see it entirely finished as opposed to just in the deleted scenes or reinserted from a poor quality source.

Truthfully, I like Superman IV better than III - I know Ilya Salkind and have told him this. He defends himself by saying III was Warner's fault. He's right, especially after he sent me the script for what III was originally planned to be.

Such irresponsible film-making doesn’t leave me with the greatest confidence that they spared the long cut from destruction. Just need WAC to confirm they have it

You're right that MGM has assets for many of Cannon's films. I keep forgetting about that.

The original cut of Cobra is as legendary as the one for Superman IV and Stallone seems to be in the mood to do it, so there's definitely demand for it, especially if another Expendables film somehow gets made.
Not a fan of Cobra at all, but I'd certainly be interested in seeing the film's original cut given it's supposedly quite different from the released version.

S:TAS isn't coming out on blu-ray, at least not yet. What was thought to be a listing for it turned out to be a listing for several Superman animated films bundled together.

Did that ever leak? I'd love to read it. I assume this was before Richard Pryor?

Superman IV is highly enjoyable, it would be more fondly thought of if they didn't cheap out on the VFX.

Yeah, IMO Superman IV is the more entertaining guilty pleasure of the two "bad" Reeves films. I actually do like Superman III, but it drags too much with all of the painfully unfunny Richard Pryor bits.

Absolutely. To me it’s the same with the schumacher batman films. I prefer Batman & Robin over Batman Forever. It’s just more entertaining. And Arnold speaking only in one liners is priceless

It's a shame they never went with the original Brainiac idea for Superman III. That sounded way better than what we got.

I'll say this though, I do like the stuff in Smallville with Lana as well as Supes turning evil and fighting himself.

Yeah that’s why I can watch and enjoy Superman III, I can’t watch part IV it is terrible.

IV is so bad that it's good. You can tell it's a Cannon film.

It's a live action cartoon. I love it.

I'll happily watch Supes III because of Richard Pryor. It's like he's in a different film from the others so I can see why it doesn't gel for some folks, but I dig RP so much I'm just glad to have him there at all.

As for Supes IV, that was the first time I got to see Supes on da big screen and the memory of it is still very vivid 30 years later. Crap movie but great nostalgia and that's enough for me to enjoy it immensely.

Way before Richard Pryor.
The original script had Brainiac ship come to earth to which it hovered over Metropolis and cut the city out from the earth. Then the city was miniaturized. Superman was out in space on another planet on peace mission to a galactic council. Supergirl enters the story, teams up with Superman to defeat Brainiac. It was big, and WB was afraid to invest so much money in the film.
WB demanded a new script and pushed that Pryor was to be in the film so a lighter, comedic approach was given.
The Salkinds wanted to use the film to introduce Supergirl, then after make a stand alone film for her - telling her back story.
The Salkinds felt a bigger film was needed to follow up Superman II and set up a new villian since the 3 from II were defeated. Also they wanted to open up the Superman Universe and get away from Lex Luthor.
It would have been incredible - the script I read was.

I'm grateful that Cannon managed to imprint themselves upon a mainstream comic book franchise. Gutted we never got that Spidey flick, though.

It would've been the greatest comic book film of all time.
