I've had too many bad experiences with Deep Discount, and I refuse to buy anything else from them.

I was deeply disappointed to not see this on the Canadian Amazon. I was looking forward to viewing this again in HD.

There are lots of places for Canadians to purchase Warner Archive titles - Amazon.com is one. Okay, so you'll have to pay shipping, big deal, plus there are dozens of sellers on E-bay or you can order from these guys located in Burnaby, B.C.: http://www.thecnl.com

Another recommendation for this "lost" epic. They don't make em like this anymore, with this luxurious build-up of a world and of the passage of time. Moody, atmospheric adventure with laughs and fun. And the PQ and AQ are excellent.

Both the PQ and AQ are completely 6/5 it's awesomely stunning. I'll be getting this hopefully very soon though. One of the most perfect Upgrades from DVD to Blu-ray too!

I don't see why Lambert would hate the film, after all it is one of his best films...

Maybe the shooting conditions were extra hard.

I imagine it was more to do with it being the intended vehicle to make Lambert a star in America, and it was a huge flop.

May have been mentioned, but this is the film where Andie MacDowell's entire dialogue was redubbed by Glenn Close.

This is interesting. If I were to go by caps-a-holic, I would see that, yes, certainly the backs are deeper. But to my eyes, the color grading is quite visibly different, not at all identical:

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...=25641&i=4&l=0

Even more so here:

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...=25637&i=0&l=0

Perhaps the difference is not as noticeable when one is watching the movie.

At any rate, it's good to hear that others are satisfied with the PQ.

Looking to get this from WOW but says manufactured on demand? What will I receive if I order the disc? Will it be a disc in a sleeve or a proper release?

If it’s the same one which has been around for years it is a proper release. Is a good one too.

All Warner Archive Blu-Rays are pressed discs and virtually indistinguishable from discs you buy at your local Brick and Mortar.

Why don't you get it from HMV, currently in the 2 for £15 offer.

So how does it work? Does the retailer request it from Warner who then ship it to them once it’s made? Sorry I’ve never had any dealings with MOD.

Warners press one batch at a time. I don't know how many per batch but once that batch runs out they press another batch and distribute them to sellers on a needs basis.

It works exactly the same way as any major release available in your local store. The make a batch, if it sells out, they make another.

Simple as that.

The soundtrack to this is absolutely beautiful, John Scott really pours out his heart into this score.

I can remember buying the CD soundtrack for this and I was gutted when the cue from the panther attack scene was excluded.

Even watching the trailer that features Gustav Holst's Mars' The Bringer of War gives me goosebumps.
