Robert Englund is an actor who hasn't been in anything major since Freddy vs Jason now almost 20 years ago. What he wants, I doubt the studios will even listen to. Didn't he himself made some drafts for Nightmare pitches that never got used? Just saying.

Hell, any classic horror franchise/monster can find new life and avenues with the right talent and passion. Halloween (2018) in my opinion is the best sequel to the original movie out of all the others by a wide margin. The Invisible Man (2020) brought the Universal Monster back in a unique and modern way that was also a damn great thriller. I don't think any classic franchise or characters are beyond having new quality entries with the right people involved. Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House [2018]) has expressed interest in making a new Elm Street and if there's any filmmaker that can make a fresh and high quality take on Elm Street and Freddy, it's going to be Mike Flanagan. Original horror is of course needed and highly welcome, but abandoning the classics despite the chance that a good filmmaker could find a great take on the property would be doing a great disservice to these iconic properties.
