Well I know pie are square and cornbread are round.

A few pages back Vilya provided many links to your insults and name calling.

@Vilya

In case you don’t read Secrets of Home Theater, they have a few new receiver reviews here. I took a quick look at the Denon AVR-X3600H and it seems to do quite a lot for the price. So the step up models must be whiz bangers.

Secrets, they were the first ones to report the CUE problem with certain DVD players (here). The authors, Don Munsil and Stacey Spears are the same ones making the BD & UHD BD test disc.

Thanks for the link; I am inclined towards the Denon 6700H at present.

This model I am watching also, came out June 5th, but two months later still not readily available looking online, and certainly no real price competition yet. I got patience. There is a Marantz equivalent SR8015 but $3200 is getting up there.

'Mulan' Heads for Disney+ in the U.S. and Other Select Countries at Premium Price - Hollywood Reporter 8/4/20

Quote:
In a surprise development, Disney announced Tuesday that Mulan will be offered to Disney+ customers in the U.S. and other select markets at a premium price of $29.99 beginning Sept. 4.

Mulan is among a handful of Hollywood tentpoles that have seen their spring and summer release dates delayed several times due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and subsequent theater closures

The decision to now bypass cinemas and debut the family adventure on Disney+ is a major blow for theater owners who were counting on playing both that film and Warner Bros.' Tenet upon reopening later this month. (Tenet, directed by Christopher Nolan, is set to launch overseas on Aug. 26, followed by select U.S. markets on Sept. 3.)

It is also the first time Disney has offered a film on Disney+ at a top-tier price, thus creating its own premium video-on-demand service at a time when PVOD is gaining strength across the industry because of COVID-19.

In addition to the U.S., Mulan will be made available to Disney+ customers in Canada, New Zealand, Australia and many Western European countries.
They can't wait forever for all USA theaters to open, but this is not cheap for the digital fans, no its advisable to wait for the UHD BD media and get a digital code also at about the same price. Also notice this will only be available via Disney +, so Disney is not allowing other streaming hosts to impact their revenue stream.

Per CNN
Quote:
Bob Chapek, Disney's CEO, said the pandemic has forced the company to think of "different approaches" to better serve consumers.

"We thought it was important to find alternative ways to bring this exceptional family friendly film to them in a timely manner," he said on the company's third quarter earnings call.

Chapek added that "Mulan" will be released simultaneously in theaters in markets where Disney+ is not available and, of course, where theaters are open.

Update:now Disney has confirmed that it's not simply a one-time rental for subscribers. They will have access to the film as long as they remain with Disney+.

I almost could feel bad for Disney.

I don’t have the big ==D+ but hopefully they don’t upset the people who do by changing terms like this.

Does that mean you will not be adding something like the Datasat RS20i AVP to your system? With a coupon you cold get 5% off. With that one you will need to add audio amplifiers.

The six pack of REL 1508 Predators are installed and in the process of breaking in...which makes the wife really happy by the way. I should be up and running in a couple of days, but will take some pictures of the system shortly.

Funny, you know a all in one X6700H or SR8015 might sound better with decent speakers than what you currently use.

At $30 one might as well wait for the physical media. Usually the price will be $25.

I wouldn't because they are simultaneously tackling the limitations of pandemic effecting movie theater revenue by allowing it for release where theaters are open alternatively offering it in the states to people that want to see it digitally via their own streaming service. Much more revenue then NBC Universal with a PVOD to all the usual streaming hosts route.

Chinese movie theaters are open with a few limits but that is a huge miss if you wait around waiting for the states to get their act together.

Diffidently, said that in the 4K Mulan thread. But some people that been waiting to see this will spend that in a heartbeat.

In the ear of the listener, what can I say. Measure as good or better, highly unlikely Total audio power, not even a contest. As to speakers, at the time of construction Seas and Scan Speak had drivers with a little lower distortion than the Peerless I used but they were much more expensive.

Listening to speakers is not simple, it has to be accurate, good radiating response, low distortion, fast startup and fast decay. Most of the speakers out there are far from any of those. If you can hear sounds from matched L+R speakers they should create a beliveable pseudo center image with no difficulty. (The Phantom of the Opera at The Royal Albert Hall Blu-ray uses the center for reverb only) Now take that further that same effect should occur between your L+R and your surround speaker array as you progress towards you from the screen. Unless you played in orchestras, played with bands most of there the time people have no idea how real it is. Its just fills the room, its loud, the floor shakes.

Choose a difficult lively percussion piece such as drum solo for fast startup and fast decay judgement. (The Tubes -- Let There Be Drums) I look for that exact accuracy on any content you play.

I listened to super expensive speakers, where two of them with a sub can accurately recreate a 2.1 image of a full orchestra. If your home theater is capable of recreating audio correctly then it will excel with home theater. But most people out there are ignorant to how much better you can have instead of those big box store speakers. Noticed haven't talked about even loudness, because a good system doesn't have to be turned up much to hear the differences in how it recreates what the source was.

I agree, that is why I have designed and constructed my own since the 70's. The two fronts were tri-amped with active 18 dB/Octave Butterworth (Sallen-Key) filters. The two rears (not shown) were the same but used passive crossovers (12 dB/Octave Butterworth).
[Show spoiler]

Current LCR speakers with passive crossovers (12 dB/Octave Butterworth).
[Show spoiler]

At work I did the same for Post Audio, designed and help construct all 10 speakers. The front mains were tri-amped with a active 24 dB/Octave (Linkwitz-Riley) filter (commercial grade).

[Show spoiler]

Some driver testing here.

I saw Todd Rundgren a few years ago on his "hits" tour. I was pleasantly surprised to discover Prairie Prince was still touring with him.
