Shocked, but not surprised. I bet you other studios will follow suit.
I'm not Shocked or Surprised, some of us saw this coming. The Pandemic just sped things up, and some will still be in denial. The Studios are going through a big change, and Discs are at the bottom of the Revenue Stream. The top two Revenue Streams are Theatrical Release and Streaming. The Studios see the Profit Margin for Discs shrinking, and will slowly reduce production.

Everything with you means the end of discs and, as usual, you think that is a wonderful outcome as indicated by your placing the "cool" emoji at the end of your latest doomsday post. You remain the obvious troll that you have always been.

All of Bill Hunt's latest clickbait speculation is just that...speculation. The word "appears" is the third word in the very title of his latest word salad. Bill Hunt is not even the first to speculate about what Disney will or will not do; our forum members have been discussing this topic since July 31st in the thread about the upcoming Home Alone 4K and the Hocus Pocus 4K releases. Forum member SB0780 first mentioned this rumor here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=412 This rumor is based upon this one forum member's alleged and secret industry source.

Hunt's article isn't even original clickbait; it was a week old rumor before he glomed onto it.

Discs are still being released because they are profitable and that will continue while they remain so. A pandemic is hardly the time to abandon any profitable revenue stream.

Rentals of physical media are the smallest part of home entertainment revenue. The top sources for video entertainment revenue are theatrical exhibitions and pay TV services; streaming is a very distant third to these two. If you actually read the data, and could understand it, you would already know this.

There is no indication that profit margins on discs are shrinking. A decline in sales does not automatically mean that profit margins have worsened. You conflate everything because you understand nothing.

If I’m correct I have 56 Disney UHD BD.

I will certainly not buy any of the ones they decide not to make.

But, I could watch one every Friday night of the year with what I already have and I have even more D on Blu. (Counting the Blu Rays I have 220 Disney titles)

Anyway this article says new things will come to disc so I plan to get Black Widow and maybe some more Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar stuff on UHD BD.

I won’t support subscription services or lease online movies with money... I redeem digital codes from physical releases. I don’t spend any money on it because then I’m not concerned with how flakey and unreliable online movies can be. They are free for me and I’m easy on free stuff.

If things get real bad in the future and steaming is the only option for some things I can wait till it’s on Tubi type channels because my remote does have a mute button for commercials.

Piker! I have every intention of buying all the titles they decide not to make. And after I do I will buy a 65" 4K LG OLED TV to view them on. Wait! Make that an 88" 8K OLED TV.

So, you've given up then on buying Samsung's The Wall? Not surprising, buying every title that they don't make could prove to be very expensive.

I have a money tree . . . well I better call it a money bush.

That was Brian who was interested in The Wall. Until he found out the cost. His budget was $3000. I don't think he could buy a single tile for that.

I need more caffeine; I quoted you in error. Oopsie. I guess that I am still upset about that Philco TV that you showed me in another thread.

My budget for a new tv was $3000.

I realize the wall costs much much more but my budget for a new tv with micro leds (like the wall) would be much higher.

And while I saved up the technology would also come down. Because that’s something I would. Save up for like 5 years or so.

Just clarifying.... I’m happy with my projector and currently I’m waiting for micro leds to get more mainstream because I do believe it’s the next generation.

With Arrow releasing in UHD BD now I will have to add Flash Gordon and Pitch Black to my review list to see if they are worth a purchase. Hi-Def Digest rated the UHD BD of Flash Gordon as a “Must Own.”

That poster deserves an award as being the “most dense” poster on Blu-ray.COM. As many times as this link has been posted most in this thread should be aware of it. There are so many new titles listed here each month it takes me several hours to check them out and that is a good thing.

No Hollywood Reporter, no Variety, No Forbes. Only Bill Hunt site, that pretty much says it all.

PS if one saw that Disney had a large gap in time with no new theater releases, how far out time wise for getting those on 4K media would that be, next year? Hey oh look there is nothing on the horizon at all. Wow.

People are so quick to believe anything, especially when they are already inclined to believe the worst.

If I were to say that I know an industry insider, whom I can't name because of their incredible importance, that said "fill in the blank"; why would any rational person just accept this without question?

Especially when there is a good chance the Rumohr is wrong/meaningless.

We really need to start teaching critical thinking at the end of elementary school.

Buying up back catalogue Fox titles now before it's too late.

Are Touchstone releases going digital-only as well?
